Recommended Lists for RitR for new players?

By Ling27, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

My local group ive been building has been sort-of talking about RitR as a campaign. We have two core sets and two tables to use. Me and the other coreset owner figure we dont really need a third, but if we get one, then it would be one for the shop so anyone can use it.

But we've also been thinking about starter lists, to recommend to people. Ive built two lists below:

Empire:

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
= 59 Points

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
= 54 Points

Raider I (44)
= 44 Points

Squadrons:
• TIE Bomber Squadron (9)
• 2 x TIE Fighter Squadron (16)
• TIE Advanced Squadron (12)
= 37 Points

Total Points: 194

And Rebel:

Pelta Command Ship (60)
= 60 Points

Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41)
= 41 Points

Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41)
= 41 Points

Squadrons:
• 2 x X-wing Squadron (26)
• 4 x Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (28)
= 54 Points

Any thoughts?

Those lists look decent. The only problem with the Imperial one is logistics - the Arqs are hard to track down right now due to supply shortages. Unless you fancy paying $80+ on FeeBay right now.

Scout Hammerheads are VERY situational, I would either drop them for torpedo Hammerheads(w/external racks), or drop 1 z-95 to upgrade them to cr-90A's

Is the pelta worth it without a fleet command? maybe the reduced price of the torpedo hammerheads would allow upgrading the pelta to an assault frigate?

A list I plan on trying would be

Name: Task Force M
Faction: Rebel
Commander:

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• External Racks (3)
= 114 Points

CR90 Corvette A (44)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
= 51 Points

Squadrons:
• Han Solo (26)
= 26 Points

Total Points: 191

Do you think a 9 point bid is enough to have initiative? if not I would swap Han Solo for Dash Rengar or Mart Mattin.

Ideally with initiative bid I might be able to first/last someone with my MC75 with 5 black, 2 blue out the front...bonus points if i can double arc it.

I think this list would be illegal. Only 1 Upgrade per ship allowed

I did not notice that, guess I need to change some stuff around, I would probably keep the strategic adviser and get more squadrons with rogue.

My hasty attempts:

Reb 1

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points)
- Lando Calrissian ( 4 points)

- X-Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 107 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Slicer Tools ( 7 points)
= 25 total ship cost

= 0 total squadron cost

Reb 2

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- X-Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)
- Auxiliary Shields Team ( 3 points)
= 54 total ship cost

1 Corran Horn ( 22 points)
1 Ketsu Onyo ( 22 points)
= 44 total squadron cost

Imp 1

[ flagship ] Victory I-Class Star Destroyer (73 points)
- X-Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 76 total ship cost

Victory I-Class Star Destroyer (73 points)

A slight variation that might get a bigger bang out of your buck.

Torpedo boats like having initiative...

MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
= 107 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• External Racks (3)
= 39 Points

CR90 Corvette A (44)
= 44 Points

Squadrons:
= 0 Points

Total Points: 190

Custom commander goes on the 75 or the cr-90.

Is a 10 point bid aggressive enough?

Well, I dunno about Rebellion in the Rim, but in the CC Campaign, first player went to whichever side initiated the battle, regardless of point totals. I’m assuming RitR is the same, otherwise improving your fleet means always having to go second.

What about an ISD as starting flagship?

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 200/200

[ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- X-Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- Reserve Hangar Deck ( 3 points)
= 113 total ship cost

Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 points)
- Dual Turbolaser Turrets ( 5 points)
= 59 total ship cost

2 TIE Fighter Squadrons ( 16 points)
1 Saber Squadron ( 12 points)
= 28 total squadron cost

That looks good to me, and would let you grow into either a squadron-based fleet or a ship-based one depending upon what your adversaries do.

Excuse me if I've missed something, but is the starting fleet size for the new campaign only 200 points? Are there any other caveats?

That's correct - and only 1 non-unique upgrade per ship. You may also take two named squadrons. Everything else has to be generic.

Nice change from Corellian Conflict where the entire cast of Star Wars gets involved! :)

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)

A Rebel MSU list starts off like this:

  • MC30 w/ ordnance experts
  • 2x CR90A w/TRC
  • 1x GR75 w/comm net

The CO starts off with Infiltrator 1 on the MC30 (redeploys the flagship after deployment).

It out-activates almost anything else in RitR and strongly rewards the player for controlling the time and pace of engagement. Fleet growth depends greatly on which missions you pick, but there are lots of options. SFO & Intel are 8 points together. APT doesn't even require a win. As the first player, its an ISD assassination squad.
