Diamond-Boron missiles and "matching result"

By fingerzz, in X-Wing Rules Questions

As the title suggest I'm having difficulty of understanding what does means keyword "matching result". How does work when opponent rolls a die for ship that are in range 0-1? Does he gets hit/crit for each result of my attack dice results?

For each <hit> result they suffer one face-down (hit) damage and for each <crit> result they suffer one face-up damage (crit).

In short, the attack dice work as if you were performing an attack. Unmodified attack, with the defender rolling no defence dice.

Yes, it is oddly worded given it is just one attack die to roll... Perhaps it is future-proofed in case we ever see an upgrade/ability increasing the amount of dice thrown?

He rolls one die for each ship, and that ship takes one hit or one crit if the die rolled for it had that result. (And so do you, it affects your ships too. And the target of the original attack)

There's a lot to unpack with this weapon, so let's look at the actual card!

The way the card works, first, you spend a charge to perform the attack. IF the attack hits (which is checked after the Neutralize Results step), then the attacker has the option of spending an extra charge. If the attacker does spend the extra charge, then you immediately go into a new step, to determine the "splash damage" for both the defender, and other nearby ships. After that splash damage is calculated and dealt, the actual weapon attack damage goes through. Here's the actual flow chart, if it helps...

  1. Perform the Diamond-Boron Missile attack. Does the attack hit?
    1. The attack hits. Do you want to spend a charge?
      1. Extra charge is spent. Identify all ships at Range 0-1 (including the defender) whose agility value is the same or less than the defender.
        1. Each relevant ship individually rolls one attack die.
        2. That ship suffers any damage result rolled (hit or crit).
      2. Extra charge is not spent. No extra Damage is dealt. (You may want to decline the extra damage, if there is greater risk to your ship, than to enemy ships)
    2. The attack DOES NOT hit . The rest of the card has no effect at this time.
