Wave 6 Speculation

By Averross, in X-Wing

My bet for a card pack is an Alphabet Squadron set.

T-65 pilots: Wes Janson, Hobbie Klivian, Tarn Mison, and Corran Horn

A-Wing pilots: Tycho Celchu, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Wedge Antilles

B-Wing pilots: Keyan Farlander and Nera Dantels

U-Wing pilots: K2S0 and Laren Joma

Y-Wing pilots: Ace Azzameen, Crix Madeen

Z-95 pilots: Booster Terrik and Ace Azzameen

Auzituck Gunship: Drokkatta and Gaarkhan

crew: Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Luke Skywalker (not gunner), Mon Mothma, Admiral Ackbar, Jun Sato, Airen Cracken, Garm Bel Iblis, Jan Dodonna.

Great list. Add Antoc Merrick to the T-65 list.

Unfortunately, I kind of seriously doubt we'll get any more Legends pilots back (in spite of the ones in the conversion kits). I expect they'll rename Tycho "Hera Syndulla" and put Gina Moonsong and Aidon Fox in the B-Wing instead of Keyan and Nera. I definitely want Wes and Hobbie back though. Drokkatta and Gaarkhan in an Auzituck would be amazing, as would be a crew for Weiss, Terro, Sorin, Blaise, and other FFG characters.

Curious if a Black Krrsantan could show up as a scum pilot for the Auzzie as well?

More predictions:

Hondo in the Firespray because Armada just got it

Hondo crew because obviously!

Kanan in the HWK also because Armada just got it (wish list: new HWK title)

Hera in the B-Wing and A-Wing (probably not the X, Y, or U though) with a variation of Tycho's ability; I have some very specific ideas on this

B-6 Title and double-slot cannon for the B-Wing (maybe possible config but unlikely); I also have some very specific ideas on this

Shara, Sabine, and Ahsoka in the A-Wing.

Gina Moonsong and Aidon Fox in the B-Wing.

Mart Mattin in the YT-2400 with new Sato's Hammer title (Bonus: Gooti Terez Crew or gunner).

Wes, Hobbie, maybe Mart in an X-Wing (Bonus: R3-A3 Astromech)

Thrawn, Pryce, Aresko, Grint, etc. as crew options. Minister Veris Hydan would be an interesting addition.

K-2S0 U wing obviously, and that Laren Joma U-Wing gets turret slot (for Bistan!)

Force crew for Chirrut Imwe

More pilots for scum Y and Z, maybe Fang (...Maul?).

Gar and Tiber Saxon, either Scum or Empire, hard to say.

More options for Jumpmaster: Config, new title, new pilots, etc?

More pilots for TIE aggressor, TIE punisher, and Star-Wing (maybe Lambda)

Fifth and Seventh brother and Valen Rudor as TIE/v1 pilots

Vult Skerris and Ciena Ree as I5 interceptor pilots

Vult Skerris and Darth Vader as TIE Defender pilots (Bonus: TIE Defender Elite config)

Vader's TIE/x1 title

Leia pilot for Falcon

I would also love to see Dodonna, Mothma, Sato, Cracken, Madine, etc. as crew. Some may be epic and/or huge ship only.

More gunner options (Blount and/or Cracken?); possibly even another generic that isn't turret-arc locked.

Long shot: A third turret option, maybe to represent something a U-Wing could conceivably rig up in space (for the aforementioned Joma/Bistan combo).

Can I get some Fs in the chat for my man Davish "Stay On Target" Krail, gone and forgotten?

I think R1/Scarif-themed card pack is more likely.

The are so many missing Blue Squadron pilots it can't be a coincidence. And we were promised K-2SO.

A "Birth of the Rebellion" set would make sense to me and would also make room for a lot more Rebels stuff.

If they do it as a campaign box (a la Rebellion in the Rim from Armada) it could apply to Imperials as well.

Bonus: Rules for either side to recruit scum!

So, like I said on the last page, usually there are some spoilers hidden in the art of preview articles that tells you what the next wave will include.

Or the Hyena in the Arc preview:

or the Naboo fighter in the Vulture preview:

So if you look at Sun Fac art in the top left of the spread, you would be making a good bet on some type of LAAT variant being announced.

I haven't seen anything else that seems to fit the bill, but I definitely might have missed it.

Honorable mention for a potential huge ship in the future:

The LAAT is also featured in the artwork for Treacherous which caused some to think it would be in Wave 4. So not a 100%, but the possibility is there.

Good catch! We can dream. I’ve always wanted the LAAT, and it makes just as much sense as the Azituck.

I imagine whatever is in the next wave will be a medium or large base ship for the Republic. Would be interesting to see some crew and a crew carrier for them. Whether that be a LAAT, Twilight, or some shuttle.

I really want that LAAT personally. The Twilight feels meh and with an LAAT we some fun arc based shenanigans for sure.

Do you think the LAAT would have a 180 degree arc, or something new we haven't seen yet?

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring that the first new Scum ship that gets announced will be something from the Resistance show.

Just look at this glorious mess and tell me you don't want to play with it:

I’ve actually wanted the kitbashed lambda ever since I saw it.

I think it may be a weird combination of 180 and a rear arc actually. There is a tail gun on the vehicle. I could see front/rear like an ARC170 with some other mechanic to accommodate the ball turrets.

I'm hoping for somethign new and interesting, I'm expecting it to be a V/PWT like the Resistance Bomber.

With how the Geonosis Fighter is, I wonder if the rear LAAT gun would be “bullseye” style arc.

The ball Turrets might need to be counted as anti-ground weapons. I don’t recall them being used out of atmosphere, but I could be forgetting something.

I would be sad if they weren't used at all, but I guess it makes sense haha.

With the way the Republic works wouldn't be surprised if it has side arcs instead of a front arc, 2 crew slots, and maybe some munitions. Throw on a single arc turret for good measure.

Y E S! pirate-ship-concept-art-resistance.jpg

My idea for the LAAT/i:

Republic LAAT/i Gunship

Base: Medium
Attack: Full Front 2 (180) + Rear 2 (90)
Evade: 1
Hull: 7
Shield: 1
Actions: Focus - Target Lock - Reload - Coordinate
Upgrades: Crew - Crew - Gunner - Missiles - Missiles - Sensor
- Modification

Tough choice for FFG here. On one hand LAAT would be a perfect opportunity to add another pointless Odd Ball, on the other hand the Twilight or one of the Jedi shuttles could bring us not one but two or more Anakins in one wave, as the contractually required Anakin pilot could be accompanied by a crew card or maybe even a gunner.

So, after 2.0 got rid of 360 degree arcs for everyone, we're just going to have a faction-locked 270 degree arc, instead?

I mean, at least that would have two 45-degree areas of no coverage, but still, I have a hard time believing FFG would go with that.

Considering the ball turrets only help cover the front by acting as, well, turrets, it seems like a turret arc would make more sense, anyway. If only for game-balance purposes.

Front guns + rear gun + turret arc would add up to 270 anyway, this time even harder to dodge.

I think we will get the variant without outer ball turrets (often seen in TCW) and the devs will pretend the wing turrets don't exist. Front arc, rear arc, a lot of missiles.

It would probably be like the Resistance bomber and be 3 out the front and 2 out the sides.
