But is RitR at GenCon just a pre-release sale with the rest of us waiting until Sept or will it be a general release on Aug 2?

Based on the stream comments, RitR will likely be released early September (maybe late August), after the preview articles have come out. If any copies are sold at Gen Con they will be early release - as they've done in previous years.
It is announced as a pre sale, so I think that the rest will have to wait until some time later

I have mine preordered. I WAS going to try getting one at GenCon, but I figured I'd get the guaranteed score and have it delivered to my door instead of HOPING I got one AND having to lug that sucker through the con!
Are we also expecting news on the announced-but-not-announced stuff? The two new ships and the Clone Wars?
Two new ships are being revealed at the In Flight Report, which is in 33 hours of this comment, streamed on YouTube and Twitch - according to the RitR stream.
Mid to Late August we will be getting full preview articles for Rebellion in the Rim, but it should all be leaked by then.
No indications on when we'll be hearing about Clone Wars, but the In Flight Report is the last big FFG event until April(ish) next year, and The Clone Wars stuff is supposed to be coming out next year some time.

You may find its too late, now. FFG HQ has already shipped their existant pre-orders.
Ordering direct from FFG is probably the best shot at securing it. But looking around, a lot of Retailers are getting what their Preoders were and maybe 1-2 more... They had to order (effectively) in 3-ship Cases... And not many are willing to sit on multiples of it without a guarantee order.
Hopefully they havn't done what normally happens with Legion and basically only produced to cover original order, and will go out of stock until a second product run in a few month's time... Who knows. Thats one of the business issues FFG keeps business-in-confidence.

Some places will ship it so you receive it on the release date, Cool Stuff in my experience doesn’t ship until the release date. Game Nerds has them in stock even though on the page it says preorder
