Indeed. I just want a squad of aliens I can use for fun games.

I just ffg to apply the same rules to a scum faction that they have to the other factions. I dont need a squad of jawas but i wouldnt say no to a few mixed in like the duros in the rebel squad.
The underworld is a huge part of star wars and one that shouldn't be ignored. If you don't want to use them then don't! If you don't want to play against them then you are free to say no.
I got annoyed when people were asking for ewoks early on. But now we have four factions, 2 of which are very well fleshed out and offer lots of good options. I still won't buy ewoks but I hope that the people who do want them eventually get them.

Yub yub! I’m sure we will get them.... someday. I just want them to be able to mesh into a rebel army, even if it’s only a limited quantity. It’d go perfectly with my home board.
As for the colorful underworld, I really don’t want to buy 4 factions because that feels so overwhelming, yet I feel like if I buy into a prequel faction I will be compelled to buy the other one (I started out Empire only because my friends playing were going only rebel so it was an easy choice.... wound up going down the path of both though I play empire way better).
Part of me would love to just jump on the Clones and Jedi and get painting, but part of me realizes I’m buying both before long so I can run thematic events. It’s a personal issue, sure, but Legion isn’t a competitive game to me it’s just fun wargaming, so the added thematic look is really cool to me.
That said, a scum faction unlocks the prospects of a third army without the compulsion. Scum crossed paths with Republic, paths with both the empire and rebellion in numerous stories, etc. There’s no immediate thematic mirror requirement for the tabletop to feel Star Wars.
Maybe discussion should wait until we see the subfaction rules for the existing factions, as they might be a clue of what's coming. The Outer Rim game consolidates crime into Hutts and Syndicate, doing several scum factions could limit some concerns. To be honest I think we'll see Scum units before Ewoks or Jawas. With snipers dominating everything an Ewok with a spear will just be a minature to remove from the table. Jawas will just steal your medical droids and leave. More likely to get Mandalorians for the existing factions, especially with the new Clone Wars season and the Mandalorian coming soon.
A Scum faction/s would really shake up the game with new play styles and be fun to paint, with more personalization options. Scum would be the only third faction I'd get, especially if I get a chance to play Maul vs Obi Wan or Maul and Savage vs Palpatine. Recreating iconic battles is part of the game and would be incomplete without a Scum faction.
