Using Other Minis with ToI

By Klaus Fritsch, in Tide of Iron

The squads made up out of 15mm Falmes of War miniatures take upt slightly more space, but are still manageable.

This is an example of a slightly converted Flames of War mini I use in US medic squads.

This is a regular US infantry figure.

This is an elite Russian infantry figure. The dots on the base show that this is an elite figure.

Nicely done!

What is the exact scale of Tide of Iron mini's or does it really adhere to the basic miniature conventions

Thanks!

The original ToI minis are about 20mm or 1:72 scale, so my minis are smaller. Tanks are a lot bigger, though. gran_risa.gif

I see you're also using barbed wire from Axis and Allies Miniatures. How about using (some of) those (infantry and tank) pieces?

I use the infantry minis and tanks, bunkers, tank obstacles, minefield markers and wire from A&A Minis. Infantry needs to be re-based slightly to fit my self-made squad bases, otherwise they fit fine since they are also 15mm. The tanks are also great since they re-sized them with the relaunch of the game. Now they are exactly the same scale as FoW minis. The new, re-sized artillery pieces are also very suitable for ToI.

I also use these tank obstacles from FoW.

The pillboxes I made myself from three round Games Workshop bases glued together.

Officers are recognizable by the national decals from FoW I put on their bases.

I experimented with entrenchment markers to put squads on.

So Axis and Allies miniatures would work? I have a ton of German ones

They work. You have to find a way to base the infantry, though. They have no pegs. The size of the vehicles requires some createive placement in the hexes, but it is doable.

KF..That Whittman Tiger is "FABELHAFT"...!!!!!Well done. aplauso.gif

Thanks!

Not quite up to the painting standards on the Battlefront website, but satisafactory for my tabletop.

The maps are on the web.

Thee graphics have been simplified a little, but they still look good. Enlarging and printing them ist still a lot of work, though.

But, playing an ALS two-mapper with ToI rules and units is fun. cool.gif
