I should rather ask: Are new releases of Star Wars Armada canon? (new meaning since Disney established the new canon)

So this is kind of a strange question. Usually things first exist in the Star Wars canon and are then brought over to the game. But of course that is not the case for everything. Titles for example. We will be getting a new title for the VSD, the Harrow. Does that mean that canonically there is a now a VSD named Harrow flying for the Empire?

Wookipedia lists Corruptor as legends. But the MC75 Armored and Ordnance cruisers have their own canon pages, each entirely sourced from Armada.

I know. The same goes for the Arquitens-class command cruiser.

I believe LFL has to sign off any any new product they produce. Things they designed pre-mouse were grandfathered in, and are still made but likely fall under Legends until further notice. Just like how you can by newly printed copies of Heir to the Empire, but it has the Legends stamp.

As with things like Battlefront, if it had an overarching story, THAT would be canon, but individual details outcomes and information would not.

As we have no overarching story, we have no canonicity.

But things like the " Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles " are handled as canon. That doesn't have any story. That is literally Star Wars Spaceship details the book.

So having a story can not be a requirement for canonicity.

To Clarify: It is when you're not "Traditional Media"

"Traditional Media" involves Book, TV, Movie and Comic. Those are going to immediately BE Canon.

By most arguments, we should be canon. But, we're in this nebulous area because Canonicity of games beyond Video Games was never established.

The Developers don't necessarily work within the framework of what is and isn't - in essence, they assume we're not and work within what is specifically totally authorized, but can seemingly pull stuff from other games which were authorized too - but that being said, Canon is always a preference. I know that if there were a solid declaration that Armada Is Canon , then, basically... The Floodgates would open on a lot of stuff that is ercurrently Legends, and would be so... And I mean, if Armada is canon, then XWing is canon - including everything that was in Wave 1, because that still exists and was created after the canonicity transfer... It is a Mess.

THis is a LucasFilm question. The person to grill on the Subject is most likely Leland Chee, if not Pablo Hidalgo himself... But I assume their answer would be the one they gave previously when discussing that sort of thing - Games are non-traditional media and thus their Canonicity is *typically* limited to an overarching storyline rather than individual components or actions.

That said, certain details of Battlefront 2 (like never-before-seen clone legions and their accompanying blurbs) are canon, though their place in game is not. I think that's the approach Wookieepedia, at least, has chosen to take with us.

Which and in and of itself, Wookieepedia isn't... an official source of canonicity.

If the holocron hasn't set guidelines, there are none. It's only speculation.

The Guidelines that were set were, effectively... As of the initial date, the Movies, the Clone Wars, and Rebels were "Canon".

Traditional Media from that point would automatically be.

So. We're left with Speculation.

There are ion canons in the game yes.
