Question for veet or others about Photobucket

Veet, in my X-Files thread, you said this...

"I just replace the original image at it's source (in my case at photobucket) and all linked images update to the current one."

How the heck do you do that, though? I couldn't find anywhere in there to replace an image directly, and if I delete a previous image and then upload one with the same file name, it ends up reverting back to the previous image for some reason.

THanks much for any help with that.

To be honest deleting the old one and replacing it with the same name is how I do it. Sometimes it takes a bit for your computer to show, I think your computer can cashe the image and wont refresh it right away.

Nah, that just ain't doing it, unless it takes a really long time to kick in, which for all I know is the case for free users. But it must be something from the Photobucket servers and not my cache, because I've emptied the cache and also tried looking on other systems. The old picture is still there. Funny thing is, if I refresh the "In This Album" page, every once in a while the new picture will show there (still shows the old one if I go to a direct link of that), and then before long the old one shows again when I refresh that page again. ???

odd....I'll experement and see what happens. I'm a free user too so the same stuff should happen to me.

OK I just used that method to update my new Asenath Waite herald and it updated fine with no delay in the switchover. I first deleted the old copy from the folder on my computer, then I exported the new one from Strange Eons, then i deleted it from photobucket then uploaded the new one. Make sure when you export you aren't getting numbers in the file name due to multiple copies in the same folder.

Okay, it has finally showed up correctly. I guess I just have to wait it out for several hours, potentially. Not sure why, but anyway...

Thanks for your help, veet.

You have to empty your cache (clear history) to force it to read the new picture.

No, that was the first thing I tried. It still didn't update until hours later...

Who knows what causes the delay. It's taken hours for me in the past but when I tried to confirm the method it worked instantly.
