Kath and her Binayre Pilots

Hi Everyone

Have played a few games now with this list with good success and a couple of changes to Kath after each game. Any other suggestions from the community?

I have repainted 4 Z-95's to match the Binayre Pilot artwork and the same with the Marauder Firespray, just to keep it thematic and style points.

I think it's a cool list. Definitely has to be fun to have that thematic thing going on, but also the synergy. I have a couple tweaks I would probably make just as my own preference but clearly you should fly what you think you can be successful with.

First, I look at swarm tactics and while you might get it to go off a lot, it may just not be worth the 3 points to get a Z95 to shoot at initiative 4. Next, as fun as Boba might be, does it actually offer anything worth the points that is required? Another thing on the chopping block for me. Cluster missiles would be pretty situational as well, and difficult at times to get the locks for the Z's.

With those possible chops, I'd still keep the title and VTG, and probably the mines too as you will want to be shooting out the rear and having opponents chase Kath.

So check this out and tell me what you think.

So I like the idea of prockets over clusters because of not needing the lock and pressuring your opponent to choose to get blocked and activate Kath, or if they end up at range 1 they are getting hammered.

Kath now has Cad Bane to be able to boost in the system phase which is super value, and then if you can't get a boost off, you can get a focus token from composure. Then still do your maneuver and another action. Just some thoughts on stuff that might get you some more value.

The boost is red so no focus with composure.... 😩

The boost isn't red. The Reinforce is.

@Hiemfire He referred to boost out of Cads Bane ability witch is red indeed, so no composure.

Suggestions:

  • Kath's ability is great, but to trigger it, you need a friendly at range 0 of the target - meaning you need to block them.
  • Therefore, there's probably an argument for Informant, to better let you roll your headhunters into position.
  • Cluster Missiles are okay, giving you cheap(ish) 3-dice attacks at range 2, but I'd suggest ion missiles instead - they're cheaper and work at range 3 as well, and ionizing fire makes an opponent predictable - which is a great thing to do when you have a swarm on your side.

Oh you guys are right - forgot about that being red so you can't get the composure focus. Still nice thing to be able to boost in system phase. Maybe take a different 1 point talent. And the informant is a good idea also to force those blocks since Z's can barrel roll.

Thank you for suggestions! I have gone with a mix of them. I had a game with the same Kath build as originally posted and 4x deadmans switch. It was hilarious the carnage that caused with bumps haha. Have changed it up to include the two ion's and will test soon.

I probably should have explained the Boba/seismic shenanigans i was going for and have used to good effect so far. With the 2 point bid I'm usually going first. So get to place first obstacle, I go for the biggest two rocks from the sets and the biggest debris cloud.

Going first, I try to place the debris cloud at range 4 from the opponents table edge, then deploy the last two in a range 1-2 triangle (debris cloud at the tip, the two rocks on in the back corners near opponent deployment). Deploy z-95s across back line, wait for opponent, deploy Kath at range 3 of opponent on the debris cloud facing away from opponent, turn 1 system phase, drop seismic charge and am able to blow up a rock and catch an early shield on the enemy ships while Kath zooms away to link up with her Z-95's.
