Jorin nodded, I would like that.. he walked over to the wall of the training room, where mockups of various types of weapons hung from peg boards. The weapons were a wide range of various bladed and blaster types, common weapons that might be found on the battlefield.

Jorin took two hard rubber training knives and handed one, handle first, to Camouflage. Always treat a training aid as the real thing, train like you fight. Jorin intoned the words that he had heard Camouflage say to his troops during their training sessions. Isn't that right, Lieutenant?

"Exactly." He resheathes his vibroknife and takes the training knife from Jorin. He tests the balance in his hand, mentally adjusting from his heavier and harder to control vibroknife to the imitation M8. He flips the knife into a fighting grip and drops into a guarded stance, "Let's see what you already know..."

Jorin raises his hand and tries to use the Force to knock the clone off-balance, but stops as he realizes it would be a bit of a low blow, and his eagerness risks hurting the clone as it reduces his control. Camo realizes what he's trying to do and speaks up almost before these thoughts finish running through Jorin's head, "Nonono, none of that. You've got to learn how to fight without your tricks before you can use them. You don't want to turn your abilities into a crutch." He signals "come at me" to the kid with his left hand as he drops back into his stance.

Jorin approaches cautiously, looking for an opening, before darting in with the blade and cutting at a perceived opening in the clone's defenses. Camouflage neatly sidesteps and the rubber blade glances off his shoulder plate as he grabs Jorin's wrist in his left hand, pressing the tip of his own knife up into Jorin's chest, just under one of the concealed armor plates. "You've got a lot to learn and unlearn." He releases the padawan and takes a step back, "First off, this sort of knife is designed for stabbing. This is where you'll do the most damage, and you want to drive it in deep and pull it out quick. The clip point helps it more effectively pierce armor and navigate through plates. For fighting droids, you're better off with a spear point." He pulls his vibroknife out of his belt, showing the different shape, "It’s more balanced so as not to slip or skip along the clankers' armor plate, and with some added weight at the hilt you can really drive this home. Its point is also a bit sturdier and can take a lot more abuse. But if you have to resort to a knife--especially an unpowered one--against the droids, you're already in trouble. An M8 is more versatile and will probably serve your purposes better." Jorin notices that as the ARC is talking, he starts smiling at his vibroknife, handling it almost lovingly as he continues to point out the key features of its design, clearly enjoying this topic and admiring his weapon.

Camouflage then goes on to demonstrate different guard positions and techniques for controlling the fight, either defensively or offensively, and advises him on tactics for attacking with a knife when the target is armed with a different weapon, drilling Jorin on each technique and tactic as he explains and demonstrates them. He focuses on the M8, but drops a few not-so-subtle hints about the pros of picking up a more tailored fighting knife once he's a bit more experienced. He also goes into how to proactively use your armor almost as a weapon itself in a fight, not just as passive defense if you can't stop a strike from reaching you. He explains how one of his instructors, a Mandalorian, made a point of drumming the technique into her trainees. "It works much better with something heavier than what you've got, but even your armor will count for something . You should add some shoulder plates, bracers too." He taps the plate around his upper arm that slots below the shoulder plate, "Then we could cut this piece down a bit to fit you more comfortably, maybe take off the inside bicep half. The outside'll be enough to catch any strikes that slide off your shoulder plate." Glancing at a chrono, he whistles in surprise, "It's gotten pretty late. Do you want to keep going, or do you want to pack it in and pick up later? Haven't even touched on pistols yet."

Jorin nodded, We should... pack it in.. It has been a long day.. Jorin returned the training aids to their place on the wall. But before I go to sleep, I think I should check in on the men, their medical care should be mostly finished for most of them, and the others would have had enough time to clean themselves up and eat some food. He looked back to Camouflage, Would you like to come along? We can always go over blasters tomorrow, as long as there isn't a new offensive.

"Sure kid, no problem. I'll go with you. Most of them are probably back in the barracks now, just some bumps and bruises, nothing serious enough to warrant a stay in Medical. Not that they would if it did..." He concedes. "Havoc got his clock cleaned and then shot, so he's probably still in the medbay. Fury might be with him, they're pretty close."

Ok. Jorin nodded, We'll visit the medbay, then a quick visit to the barracks to see how everyone is and if they need anything. Jorin knew he wasn't as experienced as some, but he was learning to be a good commander, everything he had read of military leadership told him that a good leader was the first to lead, last at recreational. To be a good leader, Jorin would make sure to check up on his men, make sure they were taken care of before himself. He was exhausted, and that was before the lightsaber and knife training...but he refused to get any sleep before he had checked on the squad.

Jorin and Camouflage made the rounds, visiting Havoc and Fury in the medical bay, making sure the medics would get food to Fury as he sat vigil over his brother. Next was the barracks, where a few of the clones were still awake, cleaning their gear as the others slept. Jorin spoke to them in turn, gently suggesting they should get some rest, the cleaning could wait. He made sure to tell them that they did a good job out there. Several of them had smiled, returning the sentiment, and gave Camouflage a worried look as the Jedi moved to the next. Camouflage nodded to them knowingly, they all saw it; Jorin was barely awake, visibly making the effort to to keep going. Camouflage could see it on his brother's faces, each one were thinking the same thing.. Tough kid, good Commander.

Mireska woke and faced a spectacular bruise in the refresher mirror early the next morning. She carefully examined her forehead.

Hmmm. Maybe I should wear a head-scarf or something to cover it today.

After finishing her morning ablutions, she decided to clear her mind in the same crystal grove that she'd pointed out to Ker'see the day before. It is a nice spot for meditation. I'll take advantage of that, and focus on sensing not only the living beings near me, but also their movements as reflected in the Force. Maybe it'll bring me some insight which I can hone for use in battle.

The grove was an almost dazzling display of refracted morning light. Mireska found a comfortable spot to lean against one of the crystal "trees" and closed her eyes. Reaching out with her non-physical senses, it felt as though the grove was not only alive in some fashion, but also singing under the gaze of the rising sun. One note in particular seemed to pull at her attention. She tried to follow it, but her focus was suddenly broken by the cadences sung by a passing group of troopers on their morning run.

Odd. That song reminds me of Ilum.

Her stomach chose that moment to rumble a protest, and she acquiesced to its call for breakfast.

“Garrison, this is Jedi Knight Kain Eldar. I’ve been hit by vulture droids and am coming in hot.”

The male called in as he fought with his fighter, desperately trying to stabilise it as he made re-entry into the atmosphere.

”If anyone can hear me, I am transmitting my coordinates, requesting aid.”

With that, there was a loud crash, the fighter smashing into the ground, a plume of smoke rising shortly after.

The next morning, Camouflage took Jorin to the garrison's weapons range and instructed the young Jedi in the use of one of the alternately requisitioned Dragoon blasters. Camouflage's militay jargon and ways of making theft sound perfectly reasonable always made Jorin grin.

Fire arm training had some similarities with Lightsaber training; breathing, proper ways to stand, kneel, prone.. Camoflage was half way through critiquing Jorin's first batch of targets when their comms came alive with Kain Eldar's distress signal.

They exchanged a look, quickly packed their things and headed to the command center.

After breakfast, Mireska made her rounds at Medical. While she felt that it was important to keep up her qualifications as both a medical doctor and a Jedi Healer, her highest priority was ensuring that the troopers under her command received only the best of care. It also made recognising them and learning their names them a lot easier.

Mireska had just sat down with Kix, about go through the latest medical supplies requisitions, when Operations forwarded Kain Eldar's distress call to her com.

"Sorry, Kix, but I need to be elsewhere," she apologised. "Let me know what you decide upon, send the requisitions to my com, and I'll forward them to GAR Central Logistics."

Mireska then hurriedly walked over to Operations.

Two Jedi starfighter crashes in one week, plus that somewhat spectacular wipeout on the BARC ... the troopers are going to think that we're trying to set some sort of record here - either that, or a worryingly bad example.

Camo glances over to Jorin as they jog to the command center, "You Jedi sure know how to make an entrance. You'd think they'd teach you how to park before letting you fly those things." He shakes his head in amusement, before changing the topic back to Jorin's accelerated training. I'll say one thing for him... Kid's a quick learner. "When we get more time, we need to look at getting some modifications for your blaster... Make it a bit more potent against droids, make sure it won't backfire on you... That'd mess up your day real bad."

Considering how she performed in the fight against the bounty hunter, Ker'see takes The Duchess to the gym to train. "We need to improve your strength and speed my friend," begins the Jedi. They move to one end of the Gym. "You should be able to outpace me across this area to the other side. I'll use the force to assist me."

They start when the Jedi says go and while the force gave the Devaronian some assistance it wasn't enough to propel her long enough to keep up with her companion.

The Nexu finishes a few seconds ahead leaving Ker'see slightly winded. The Duchess turns to her master and preens innocently.

"You got me this time but next time you won't be so lucky," grins the Jedi. Before she can say anything else her comm blinks and she receives the message about the crashed ship. "Looks like we've got work to do. Best go weapon up, just in case."

Camouflage slows as the pair approach the command center and he enters behind Jorin, letting the commander take the lead on this one. Mireska is already talking to Commander Cody, and he can see Ker'see running in their direction. Looks like the gang's all here. Except for Condor. Hope he's doing okay. The ARC trooper stands to attention a couple steps back from the holotable.

Jorin bowed to Mireska as they approached the holotable. Master, Commander, Jorin greeted them, what is the situation with Jedi Eldar? Lieutenant Camouflage and I are ready to volunteer for any retrieval mission.

"I'm considering a speedy retrieval mission, using the BARCs again - hopefully without any spectactular crashes this time," Mireska replied with a smile.

She looked around at the others, including the seemingly ever-present Commander Cody. "Any suggestions?"

"Do we not have another vehicle we could take that could accommodate us all?" asks Ker'see as she pet The Duchess.

Camouflage smirks under his helmet at Mireska's query, Yeah I've got one. Let the clones drive.

Camouflage steps forward, "No, General Ker'see. The Seppies would pick up a LAAT and send Vultures to intercept. We'd end up needing rescue as well as your Jedi out there. If we even survived. And an AT-TE is too much for our purposes and is way too slow. Without support, it would likely get itself just as dead as a LAAT. BARCs are our best bet. We'll need three, with two sidecars." He glances at The Duchess, "Three sidecars." He corrects. "Unless you want to leave your kitten behind."

He looks down at Jorin somewhat apologetically, realizing he'd sort of voided the point of "let the kid take the lead on this one." Oh well. Maybe next time I'll keep my big mouth shut. I'd probably have ended up saying it anyway, but I wish I'd've heard the kid's take on it.

Jorin looked up at Camouflage and started to feel his silent apology of technically overstepping the command structure.. The feeling gave Jorin some hope that his path choice was correct.

Lieutenant, I think we could come up with a remedy to that problem.. The Grand Army seems to lack resources for specialized small team operations. We alternately source a suitable vehicle.. I think an armed personnel carrier, perhaps an armored civilian speeder?

That's the Jorin I know... "We'd be hard pressed to find one that hasn't been destroyed, and we don't have the time to look now. But wait, if there's an intact law enforcement base nearby... Commander Cody, do we know of any that might have a motor pool we could borrow from? We don't know the Jedi's condition, might need something capable of transporting someone badly injured, and an APC would do nicely."

Meanwhile at the ship, Kain would let out a sigh and a groan of annoyance as he slipped out of the damaged cockpit, landing in the ground with a grunt.

”Dang Vulture droids...”
