ok i've been obsessing about battlelore for a month now. i really want this game!!

but the problem is, i can't find a new copy anywhere... except for vultures selling their copies online for more than i can afford.

i just read an interview with the ceo of ffg saying making a reprint of battlelore would result in near $150 retail, which he says is unacceptable. and i agree.

so here is my sloution. (please hold your flames until after you have read everything. and remember, its only my opinion.)

i think ffg should reprint battlelore exactly as it was EXCEPT for the miniatures. instead, substitute little cardboard stand-ups with plastic bases. the stand-ups could have awesome art on them which imo would look better than the bland gray mini's that came with the original game. price it for $69 retail and people like me will be able to buy it.

ALSO, make a SEPARATE box that contains all the plastic miniatures for people who can afford it. and sell that box for $59 retail

$69 retail + $59 retail = $128 retail ( that's certainly near $150 retail, isn't it?)

the hardcore gamers will buy both boxes and people who are poor (like me) will buy the base game first and wait a few months and then buy the miniatures box . along with expansions since i now would own the base game.

anyway, just a thought.

I am still uncertain as to a) what FFG wants to do with this game and b) what they can do with this game. No flames for you from me, sounds like a fine idea (but, not one I expect to be done). They could also just provide banner bearers as figures and counters for the cohesion morale of the unit. Plenty of other solutions as well, seems to me it really comes down to the level of desire of FFG to re-release the base game.

My guess is that they'd like to avoid a reprint and move in the Westros direction. I think they prefer the Westros game mechanics and just wanted BattleLore for its brand recognition.

Dangit. I thought they had the "whistling past the graveyard" smiley on here...

Since they have decided on the contents for the Horrific Horde army pack I´m pretty sure which figures to be in the reprint has already been decided.

I have not had a problem finding the base game for retail price or less. If you need help, just let me know. I can point to numerous sources or I can go up to the nearest game store and pick you up a copy.
