Psychic Phenomena Rolls

By player546410, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

I've got a new player and so, for the first time, a PC Astropath. Most of the Psychic stuff makes sense to me, but there's one little thing I can't find anywhere in the book; What dice to you roll to check against the Psychic Phenomena Table?

When I first read it, I assumed it was a d100. If this is true though, how does the Astropath's "Roll an extra d10 and drop one" abilitiy work?

I think you first roll 1d100 as usual and then roll 1d10. Thereafter, you may replace any one of the two d10 you count as 1d100 with the result rolled on the single d10.

Example: Maddie the Psyker rolls 64 with the d100, and a 3 on the d10. If he wants, he may now change the result of the d100 to either 6 3 or 3 4

That was my understanding of the rule as well.

What happens when the psyker gets the Favoured by the Warp talent, does he replace any one of the d10 on each roll?

Since he makes two phenomena rolls, I'd assume you'd apply the astropath rule to both of them.

Might as well remove Perils of the Warp altogether as soon as an Astropath gets this talent.

Well he is one of the safest kinds of psykers. And of course, there's always the possibility of having the phenomena upgraded in strength by using Unfettered powers.

You mean by Pushing powers.

I just reread the Astropath sidebar and the extra D10 only applies when you are rolling for Perils of the Warp not Psychic Phenomenas. Since the Psyker must aIready be in trouble to use this ability, I guess it even things out a bit.

On a related note does the +5 per +1 psy rating, only apply to the Psychic Phenomena roll or does it also applies to any rolls made on the Perils of the Warp table?
