When it comes to bidding chains to see who gets to use it in the deciding match, if the winner has bid 5 chains. Do you start that match with 8 chains on the deck? The 5 you ended up bidding to use it plus the 3 it starts each game with??
If not, and you only use the chains that were the winning bid.
What if it was the other way round? A 5 chain deck and 3 chain winning bid. Would the deck have 8 chains or just the 3 chain from the bidding, therefore making it even easier to win with...
