Knights of Ren When

By Boom Owl, in X-Wing

I think we've assumed from the prequels that every Jedi is just automatically a pilot because wooshwoosh spaceships!

That's one thing that really sucks about Finn for me. I love the guy, but he's not really known for a ship, so he's just a Crew in X-Wing and I don't get to have him fly something cool directly.

I don't know, he's kind of a big deal:

Annoying as anything to fly against. Cheap little bugger will block the nonsense out of you and doesn't die half as fast as it should.

I've been saying this for a while. I was wrong about perceptive copilot on him, as people do well with him with just heroic or heroic with C3PO or Chewbacca.

So I know that the source material is ambiguous regarding their force sensitivity, but since Luke says Kylo took his best students with him before his Order 66 EZ mode, it's not unreasonable to ascribe at least 1 force charge to each of the knights. I'd also like to see them share in Kylo Ren's interactions with the damage deck.

"The Dark Side is stronger". Spend force to assign the condition upon defending, a la classic Kylo. In exchange for only working when the opponent would normally take a faceup card (as opposed to throwing itself beneath shields), it can work with any crit, not just pilot.

"When you gaze into the abyss, it gazes back to you." At the start of engagement, spend a force. Look through your damage deck and discard a card. Reshuffle your deck.

"The tragedy of Darth Palagieus the Wise." When a friendly ship at whatever range is balanced would suffer damage from an attack, you may spend 2 force charges and suffer 1 damage to cancel all damage to that ship.

etc.

Speaking of force users, Armada just got Kanan in a HWK with ability to cloak .

I3 SNR with Cassian and Engine Upgrade? New title for Cloak action or else cloaking device? Much cheaper Hatin' Kanan as support? Super interesting options there...

My other nutty idea is a 2-dice primary, but also a 4-dice bullseye primary, but a ship ability which turns off the range-1 bonus. It'd be 2-dice out of bullseye, 4 dice in bullseye--at any range. Probably in cost a little higher than an Advanced /v1.

I absolutely love quirky ships like that. I feel it really makes each ship unique and different from each other, and super rewarding to fly, even if their not always super good (too powerful quirk obviously ends up overcosted, while most ''quirky'' ships are bottom tier because their ability is just too hard to use.)

Sooooooo, a generic with that....? i'mma just gonna chill in my corner of the map for 5 or so turn, just running away and spending force to discard my whole damage deck. You don't mind do you? :P

The Knights of Ren are a gang of specific members, no generics. Also, if you deplete your damage deck, you must reshuffle it. So much for ditching all of those panicked pilots and direct hits.

True! I forgot about that, I though you could just keep like 2 or 3 card and be INVINCIBLE! Thank god i'm not the one writing rules lol.

Oh wow, I had no idea he came in that pack. I don't know if that's really my thing, but it might explain why I've had this nagging feeling to pick up that ship without otherwise having any reason to. 😜

Too bad the Silencer is already an FO interceptor.

Seriously, I’m not sure how they are going to keep differentiating all of these TIEs from each other and the Imperial ones.

Why do they need to? The First Order is probably the easiest faction to have ships for. They are a technology superior Imperial faction. They maybe smaller but that hardly matters for XMG. Looking forward to the FO/Defender

Because the Silencer is similar, doesn’t mean it is an upgraded Interceptor.

Their stat line and ability are literally interceptor plus already.

And right now our only other canon FO ships are one or two interceptors (depending if the one in the new movie is the same model as the one in the cartoon)
