What would you add to maximise Guri's hyper mobility and amazing flanking abilities?

I think I want to leave a bit of about 7-8 points.

What do you think @ScummyRebel @flooze @SabineKey @Covered in Weasels @Vector Strike @stuffedskullcat

I think I haven't used the virago boost a single time. That stress scares me.

I can imagine that afterburners work, but I haven't tried yet.

This squad played by Old Jester made top8 at TNX open. Cybernetics and Shield Upgrade over Virago title is an interesting call. It seemed to work for him.

zero bid I know but something like this would suit my play style. have tried the Khiraxz fighter and found it too limiting for movement options.

Has anyone tried this?

Guri - AdSen

Fenn

Teroch

this also looks pretty scary...

Apart from Dalan Oberos, that's the most mobile set-up in X-wing

Probably better with outmanuver but advance sensors daredevil boost into a blue manuveur and grabbing a free focus is also very nice.

Our go-to Guri list is just AdvS for her with Swarm Fenn and a Recruit. Comes in at 191. Works very well and has a range of nice tools but it is a very tight-rope squad.

Went up by 3 in the last update, which is a little awkward since I feel it necessary to run Guri with a bare minimum 10pt bid. It used to be a 12pt bid for that list.

Swapping the Recruit for Teroch appealed but at 200, feels a little suicidal. They are all extremely squishy outside R1 and allowing opposing aces the option to engage at R2 is bad . 198 for Kad instead is not on my radar, Kad is great but if you don't have Old T in already, 2pt extra for him is a steal.

Imo, with the right squad, Guri is fine with just AdvS. She doesn't get a lot better than that and extra expenditure eats into the all important bid and restricts your other choices.

We tried Daredevil and while superb fun and genuinely crazy, it actually doesn't add much that she can't just do with a pre-move roll and stress free dial.

If I add anything more than AdvS, it's Predator.

An exception is if you're going extremely bold with your squad and making her a super fighter. In which case, Shield, Virago and Outmanoeuvre would be my choices. Similar to how PhilGC runs her with Outmanoeuvre Fenn and a stonking bid. Could even add Afterburners or another hull for a massive 8hp. And considerable expense.... heck, put Pro Torps on too for a 118pt ship!

Another squad I'd like to try is teaming an AdvS, Outmanoeuvre Guri with a slim Ketsu and Squad Leader Seevor. The latter to focus/evade Ketsu while drawing fire and just being generally annoying. No idea if it would be any good at all, (probably not), but could be fun and will certainly hurt things. Tempting to go really silly and Swarm Ketsu, then Seevor can shoot 1st and jam an unlucky victim, so the girls can really annihilate them :D

That'd be 195 and more than a little risky...

Become Phil GC

That aside I think the real trick is to build a good squad around her.

I paired her with Fenn and had lots of fun.

Virago is only taken for the extra modification slot if you’re going to go full fat. If not, just avoid it...

Indeed. All in on superstar mode. Then you have AdvS, so why red boost this turn when you can white boost in a minute.

There must be some edge case where you'd want to do that- red boost, blue move, normal boost- I sure don't know how I'd have that sequence plotted out for a foolproof gain.

I used virago boost once, to arc dodge an entire swarm that was all around Guri, and could easily block my AS shenanigans the following turn with blocks and BRs. That way I forced them all to k turn. I just did a 3 Straight and disengaged. Another time I used it to get into R1 of a tugboat, to prevent it from tractoring me next turn, as the 1 straight wouldn’t fit. I think those are the only times I can remember using it, in something like 30 games...

A fine point there. Blocking AS moves is how you kill these things. Edge case but certainly handy to have in the bank for that rare occasion.

For me, Guri comes in tiers. Barebones Guri still comes with Advanced Sensors. Basic Guri goes Outmaneuver and Advanced Sensors. From there, I would go Afterburners for added squirrel. I might add Virago, but a bit more for the extra Shield than the boost, but the boost might have value in “oh crap” situations.

I haven't left home without Advanced Sensors on a named Starviper since the start of 2.0, and I expect it will stay that way for a while. Other than that I tend to add very little to the chassis, otherwise the points climb too high for my taste. I would like to try Virago at some point because it seems like a useful tool to have, but I have yet to put it on the table.

I believe Virago also gives you a shield, which is the reason I use it.
I've run Guri at 103 points a number of times, and she's awesome.
But she can also be run at 66 points (with Predator), and be totally worth it.

Yeap you’re right. I didn’t mention it as I thought it was clear you would never pay 10p for a shield and 2 red boosts you never use... you’d be better off with just a shield upgrade (8p), so the reason you take it is to get another mod slot to make Guri fatter.

Phil GC’s Guri makes good use of all those slots!

The main reason to take Virago is to get a shield.
You can also get a second shield from take a shield upgrade with a Mod slot.
This gives Guri a health of 7 (3 shields), which can be significant.

I always enjoy flying Guru, but she really needs a list that works with her

Here is one I want to try soon

•Guri - Prince Xizor’s Bodyguard (64)
Predator (2)
Advanced Sensors (10)
Afterburners (6)

this is looking solid. no Fenn but you have some nice flexibility with all 3 pilots being able to operate on their own if needed.

I thought I needed the title, but I never really used the title boost to great effect. If I have points I'll put a Shield on her so this looks good.

While double fangs is interesting, them plus Guri seems terrifyingly fragile. So I wonder if there's anything other pair of ships that'd do well with her?

Maybe Mama Serissu for defensive rerolls?

Yes.
Two bounty hunters plus Guri w/Predator.

I was thinking of this:

M3-A Interceptor - Cartel Spacer - 39
Cartel Spacer - (28)
Afterburners (6)
Ion Cannon (5)

M3-A Interceptor - Cartel Spacer - 39

Autoblasters (2)

StarViper -class Attack Platform - •Guri - 67

Predator (2)

I know M3as are generally bad, but I'm finding Serissu is great, and Ion shots are going to make it easy for Guri to get behind people and safely attack away. And Serissu giving Guri defensive rerolls keeps her alive long enough to get there.

We've flown double Fangs a fair amount and they're generally annoyingly resilient. Obviously it's tightrope stuff but most of the time, it's only hard counters like alternate arcs and passive mods on lists that can pseudo fortress that undo them. Not that there's a shortage of those things....

Generally, it's not too hard to launch into R1 and get overwhelmingly favourable trades with them.

Guri works well teamed with them too, since either element of the list can deal with attention, either by kiting it or jumping into R1 of it, while the other capitalises hugely on the free approach.
