At the start of 2.0 it was all about Scum, with a dab of Rebels, Imps, and Resistance. I have now all but shelved my Rebels, scaled waaaaaaay back on Scum, and bought into CIS. I still hit the Imps and the Resistance when I get too tired of losing to Rebels and Republic, though.
What faction(s) are you playing now?
Empire and Rebels since the 2.0 release.
A tiny smattering of scum.
And now, finally, probably resistance and separatists. Resistance because rebels are only getting worse and worse every point update and resistance better and better. Separatists because I finally bought them lol.
I have all the FO conversion stuff, but thus far haven't used them once.... The list building synergy...isn't there....
Also, am I a bad person for thinking that republic squads and list building are boring AF? ![]()
I started with Resistance and Scum, sold Resistance for CIS and Republic. Then bought some Empire. Last week I sold CIS because I didn't find what I was looking for there.
So currently I'm mainly flying Empire and Republic with some Scum on the side (pretty much only Boba/Guri).

objectively

arcsarcsarcs
Galactic Empire.
I've tried First Order too - basically some variation on the TIE swarm.
I really should give 4 T-70s a go, though.

After all this time?

I was so excited for ARCs and Clones and Jedi... but CIS just has more interesting mechanics 🤷♂️ As the republic gets more ships, I’m sure I’ll find ways to play it that I enjoy, but as of right now... I just haven’t bothered trying in a while.

the time hasn't been nearly as expansive as that beautiful wingspan
Republic in Hyperspace and Scum in Extended.

Agree with the CIS sentiment. Sure, the CIS is a little underpowered now. However, I think their mechanics and complexity are set to only get better power-wise, and more interesting in terms of list building.....Republic less-so
(seems to me the only interesting thing about republic is the jedi, who are all out. so the faction can only get more boring from here-on out
)
So, as a more serious address to republic list building being "boring"
A.) CiS is a bad comparison because they're unlike ANYTHING in the game
B.) I believe people are taking the new stuff for granted
Ie, anyone can fall back on the Obiwan Clonobi trple-arc list. It was super solid before the point change, and now the former top dogs got a licking. Maybe Ole! pops up as an arc replacement and maybe not
But we're then neglecting like... everything else in the n1?
For example, baby Anakin. It's easy to go gaga for Ole! having a conditional 3-die primary, but we're overlooking a force user with a ridiculous ability. A 2-die primary necessitates juke ofc, but having a force also lets you fcs lock for full mods atop the full throttle evade. Despite the i4, he could be a very great ace for the same price as a generic Delta-B.
Spinning Neat Trick Etc
(42) 104th Battalion Pilot [ARC-170 Starfighter]

(54) "Sinker" [ARC-170 Starfighter]
Points: 54
(50) "Wolffe" [ARC-170 Starfighter]

(41) Anakin Skywalker [Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter]
(2) Fire-Control System
(7) Juke
(4) R2 Astromech

(Plus you get to accuse your opponent of killing younglings!)
Another interesting thing is Oddball now being affordable. Sure, he'll prob remain too expensive to use...but a high I aux arc ship is surprisingly flexible. Now, the speed change astro is again probably too expensive again...but just take a second to imagine the shenanigans you could get up to with that on a named Arc
Etc.
Edited by ficklegreendiceAs of now just Republic and Resistance.

A lot of people seem to be trying to build 556 triple ace lists with Republic, or one ace plus three generic ARCs. Not only is it boring, but I think they're doing it wrong. Resistance and Empire do ace play better, and Rebels joust better.
The real strength of the Republic isn't red dice, hit points or initiative, but mutually supportive pilot abilities.
Edited by OkapiSo many new lists to try out, so little time.
The only faction I'm not really playing currently is Republic - because my son has laid claim to most of the ships I've bought and I really don't want to buy a second set of them!
Meanwhile, I'm working my way through every ship type I haven't yet flown in 2nd ed. Not counting wave 4, that leaves 4 Rebels (A, B, Auzituck, YT2400) 1 resistance (YT1300), and 4 scum (Kimo, Scurrg, Firespray, Jumpmaster) to fly.
Rebels, Resistance, Republic - although I have borrowed all other factions from friends. In fact I think I'm the only person at my store to have played all factions in 2.0, I just find Scum/Imperial to be a bit more common opponents for me and I'm not a big fan of mirror matches.

I wouldn't say that. There's plenty of room for Jedi crew when we get the LAAT, not to mention the Actis will certainly come eventually.
Crew options are what make most factions relatively interesting to me, personally. So I look forward to the LAAT and CIS Sheathipede ![]()
All of them!!!!.......except for filthy pirates.

You serious? We haven't even seen master Yoda yet. Nor do we have anything on the Actis. Large and Huge ships make room for a lot more interesting crew (Mace, Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Plo, etc.) and there are many, many other Jedi even from the high council that haven't seen the light of day yet (Ayla Secura, Kit Fisto, Shaak Ti, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Ima-Gun-Di, Depa Billaba, Syfo Dyas, Qui-Gon Jinn, and many others).
Anyway, even beyond that we haven't seen any sign of our beloved Captain Rex! And it would be cool to get pilots for Rex, Cody, and all the other boys. The faction is hardly started!

If I can have a viable team that’s Anakin, Ashoka, and Rex, I will be a happy, happy man.

Has this changed from the launch of 2.0?
Yes.
Kinda.
Im enjoying reading through this thread. Its obvious this game has wide reaching appeal and offers something for everyone.
@ClassicalMoser Yoda crew is going to be quite something and probably turn many players to his faction if they are not already there.
Another thread could be devoted to which faction is the most challenging to play. Some will naturally gravitate towards the faction with the best points value and choose already proven squads once the 'meta' settles. The most interesting time is this period of finding what works in your preferred faction.
Other players will persist with their preferred faction(s) even when less popular and make a competitive list or something unexpected and competitive. These madmen have my respect because they choose to not follow the crowd and occasionally do well im competitive events with janky squads you would not expect.
Edited by Da_Brown_BomberWhat faction have I been playing? "I love democracy. I love the Republic."
(Additionally, I flew TIE Interceptors for most of 1.0, so I picked up 3 Fangs and fly them from time to time. No other Scum, though.)
5 hours ago, Okapi said:A lot of people seem to be trying to build 556 triple ace lists with Republic, or one ace plus three generic ARCs.
I tend to fly Jedi+3 ARCs because it's thematic for the GAR - Jedi are rare, and the clones are plentiful, identical, and an organized military - you would be more likely to see multiples of the same ship, not one of this and one of that and one of the other thing, unlike Scum and Rebels.
Republic, resistance, and empire here. Even though my favorite empire build got murdered by the points (1 juke phantom was fair and balanced, fite me).
Spamming t-70's with HLC is just too much fun, and the Republic just goes wherever it wants with Jedi and N-1's
Mostly Scum, some Rebel and Empire.
I have Resistance and First Order, but have only fiddled with Resistance a couple times in 2.0
I like flying against Republic and Separatists, but I honestly don't think I have the time and money bandwidth for them. I used to be "one of everything" but that seems to have changed with seven factions.
I only own Republic ships and have been very careful to avoid anything else. Need to stick to a budget.
