Working on Scum sixes.

By Sixter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The Scum faction has three Iniative 6 pilots; Han, Fenn and Dengar. Conveniently enough they actually fit together in a list with 14 points to spare for upgrades (assuming the Punishing One title is mandatory). Trick Shot is kind of mandatory for Han too (too bad it for raised to 4 points), so now I´m left with 10 points. It would be possible to spend those 10 points on a bid, but other I6 lists might very well be spending more on their bid, so I´m rather inclined to spend those 10 points on upgrades and rely on blocking other I6 pilots with my two big ships rather than arc dodging them.

What are the best options to spend those last 10 points (or 14 if you dislike Trick Shot)?

That depends on whether you want Dengar to stick around or trade with something early. If u want him to trade keep him lean and mean and maybe consider 1pt for Greedo gunner on him. As you say, no bid means you will be moving before and firing first vs other init 6 pilots anyway so Greedos drawback is negated.

If you want Dengar to survive longer and you plan to circle back and attack with him then the droid that gives shield regen and a disarm token is needed.

Predator on Fenn is a given id say.

I think trickshot on Han even at 4pts is important for him to leverage more firepower.

I would do:

Title on Dengar

Predator on Fenn

Trickshot and Perceptive Copilot on Han

It looks great in theory but I have trouble getting value out of Han and Dengar's dial is just so bad.

^This. Thats why I think Dengar is best used as an expendable 'trading ship' in the early stages of the game. You are going to take 2-3 turns to reposition him after the first engagement. Han is perhaps not consistent enough to benefit from Trickshots thought the course of the game. Its got me thinking about a squad maximising Trickshots one all ships and reusable Rigged Cargo Chutes. I don't think it will be competitive but it will be fun :)

Introducing Triple Trickshot

This would be fun and possibly even good with some practice. up to 6 rigged cargo chutes!

Dengar (56)
Trick Shot (4)
Rigged Cargo Chute (4)
Punishing One (8)

Ship total: 72 Half Points: 36 Threshold: 5

Han Solo (Scum) (54)
Trick Shot (4)
Jabba the Hutt (6)
Rigged Cargo Chute (4)
Lando's Millennium Falcon (6)

Ship total: 74 Half Points: 37 Threshold: 6

Talonbane Cobra (50)
Trick Shot (4)

Ship total: 54 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 3

Total: 200

I think this should be solid... a bit more conventional.

Dengar (56)
Greedo (1)
Contraband Cybernetics (3)
Punishing One (8)
R2 Astromech (4)

Ship total: 72 Half Points: 36 Threshold: 5

Old Teroch (56)

I would go with this.

New Squadron

(54) Han Solo [Customized YT-1300 Light Freighter]
(4) Trick Shot
(4) Rigged Cargo Chute
Points: 62

(68) Fenn Rau [Fang Fighter]
(2) Predator
Points: 70

(56) Dengar [JumpMaster 5000]
(8) Punishing One
(4) R5-P8
Points: 68

Total points: 200

Rigged Cargo Chute works well with Han. People see it coming and they have to work around it or just accept it will happen.

Fenn w/ predator is basicly stapled togethwr.

I Like R5-P8. It is a reroll, only three times.

Only other option Inwould try is agile gunner on dengar. Just have to cut other upgrades out.

Just theorising.

Really trying to get the scum 6s to work. But both Han and Dengar just doesn't seem to be very good. The 2R pretty much kills both of them for me.

But this way Dengar can at least turn right sometimes. And the occasional boost / roll can be useful.

Its just half a list. Can add your choice of low IN roadblocks etc.

Customized YT-1300 Light Freighter - •Han Solo - 69
•Han Solo - The Corellian Kid (54)
•Jabba the Hutt (6)
Contraband Cybernetics (3)
•Lando’s Millennium Falcon (6)

JumpMaster 5000 - •Dengar - 68
•Dengar - Vengeful Corellian (56)
Contraband Cybernetics (3)
Punishing One (8)
•Greedo (1)

Total: 137/200

Hotshot Gunner might be helpful on Han, as it means he can still contribute by stripping tokens when he doesn't have the rock shot lined up. The Falcon title is also nice for the extra dice against stressed ships, if you can fit it.

I'm not sure Trick Shot is a must-have any more. Not only has the price gone up, the extra defence bonus from gas clouds makes shooting through obstacles less attractive in general.

EDIT: So this fits and doesn't seem terrible:

Han Solo (Scum) (54)
Trick Shot (4)
Hotshot Gunner (7)
Ship total: 65 Half Points: 33 Threshold: 6

Dengar (56)
Greedo (1)
Punishing One (8)
Ship total: 65 Half Points: 33 Threshold: 5

Fenn Rau (68)
Predator (2)
Ship total: 70 Half Points: 35 Threshold: 2

Total: 200

Shoot first with Han and Fenn to strip tokens and shields, then push a crit through with Dengar?
