Enemy Movement - Provoke

By pandom, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

Loving the game and I would love a clarification. I played through to Chapter 4 and against numerous checks against the LTP and RR guides I cannot seem to answer my question either way.

1. When we move our heroes into a space with an enemy we provoke them - which instigates an attack against the player hero. What about the reverse when an enemy moves into a space occupied by the hero? Do we get to provoke? I cannot see an definitive line stating either way.

I feel it is needed sometimes when the Shadow moves numerous groups of NPCs into a space.

Thanks.

Hi,

An emeny is not automatically provoked when you move into their space or they yours. Provoking an enemy only occurs if you try to move out of an unexhausted enemy space or interact with a token in their space.

You'll be making things extremely difficult for yourself if you click to provoke every enemy from simply moving into their space.

^ this.

i highlighted the important parts in the rrg:

Enemies do not Provoke at all. They can freely move out of spaces occupied by heroes if their designated target is within range. (if not the new target is you. congratulations!)

Only hero movement out of a space or interacting in the space IF the enemy/enemies is/are not exhausted.

Hold on... I though an enemy would attack the closest hero even if it could reach the named target. It says in the app as an ex: Move 2, Attack Aragorn or closest hero.

I figured a named target was to break a distance tie between two heros or attack that specific player in case there were multiple players in the same space.

Hi, Enemies always target the named hero in the first instance if they can reach them. It doesn't matter if any other hero happens to be closer, even in their space.

Your example text is incorrect.

It will normally say something like; Move 2, Attack Aragorn (or closest hero).

Notice the brackets, which separate the "or closest hero" from the actual target.

IF the enemy can reach the named target you should do that.

Closest Hero only becomes an option when the named target cannot be reached.
