How good is Autopilot Drone?

How good is Autopilot Drone? The cheapest Escape Craft.

12 points. 3 charges. 2 atk. 2 defence. self destructs after 3 turns.

I'm not seeing it played much, if at all. Is anyone playing this and having success with it?

It's a solid upgrade to the Falcon, but the Falcon itself is pretty middling.

It's terrible on its own.

I've just started experimenting with it, I've gotten more use out of it than I initially expected. Points wise, it isn't too hard to make it worth the buy in. I think of it like a 12 point double shield upgrade that may give you double actions and an extra shot for a round or two. It's a shame that if it is destroyed in combat it's "proton bomb" ability doesn't trigger, but two shields and two coordinates makes it worth it to me.

Gold Squadron talked about that ship in one of their podcasts recently. Maybe check that one out (is about scum as a faction)

Are you sure? I haven't really used it much, but the part about it exploding when removed comes after a full stop, so I assumed it was regardless of the charges ๐Ÿ˜•

it's one of the Specific Card Questions in the FAQ, p27 of rules reference

Ah. Missed that...

I missed it too for the first couple of casual games(it didn't blow up on anyone, but they stayed well away from it which gave me board control so it does matter), someone asked about it the other day so we looked it up in the FAQ and, sadly, it does not go all Protony if it is destroyed in combat.

It's also only 12 points if you were going to take the title regardless. Otherwise, it's 18.

Might be able to do some interesting stuff with this?

Han Solo (54)
- Jabba the Hutt (6)
- Dengar (5)
- Contraband Cybernetics (3)
- Lando's Falcon (6)

Autopilot Drone (12)

The whole combo comes to 87 points, so plenty of room to play with for supporting wingmen. You can do a lot with a full five rounds of not caring about stress.

I've used it as the world's dumbest fireship in a couple of casual lists. Point at the enemy formation and send the rest in behind it/around the flank. It either breaks up the formation, they all take a crit, or as happened in my case, the opponent forgets it's a flying bomb and flies one of his ships right into it on the round it explodes. Worst case scenario, they are shooting at the escape craft and not something else.

I've run Han a lot, I never run him without the title. The extra die on stressed targets is really good because just about every ship needs to turn around eventually and a lot of them have good linked actions that they want to use.

Dengar gunner has been a trap for me. Tried him in a couple of games, he did not earn his points back. I pay the extra points for Hot Shot Gunner, no dice involved in removing the Focus token there.

๐Ÿคจ If you're going for damage, BT-1 or Greedo is better. If you're going for token striping take Hotshot.

Lando and either igd or perceptive.

I used the Autopilot Drone tonight with a Jakku Gunrunner (along with Genesis Red and Asajj). The Drone was set up directly in front of the QJ (pretty much touching) and moved first. Then the QJ came up behind it and Tractor'd it for one-speed move towards the enemy ships. Repeat on turn two. On the explody turn, if your opponent hasn't made an active effort to avoid the Drone or destroy it, you should be able to push it right into the middle of their ranks. Which is what happened on tonight's game. It did manage to hit two enemy ships for one shield each, and caused them to hesitate in their formation, which made it easier to pick off one of the forward ships quite quickly.
