Can you equip 2 copies of the card to obi-wan for example.

I know its not limited but I don't think i have ever ran into this situation before and am very curious if there is a specific rule limiting the taking of the same upgrade twice on one unit.

No, you cannot equip duplicate copies of an upgrade card. So no doubling up on Esteemed Leader to give corps units guardian 2, no double dipping with Emergency Stims, and no double Force Guidance.

You can have two force users in your army with that card, since it is not unique (has no dot in front of the name) but you are not allowed to equip the same card on one unit twice.

Oh, yeah. I probably should have been clearer. Vader+the Emperor could each have force guidance, handing out 4 surge tokens a turn, as could future Republic Jedi duos. I was specifically referring to the idea of a single character taking multiple copies of an upgrade card, which the RRG forbids.

I'm really hoping the Republic ends up getting a generic Jedi personnel upgrade that gives the unit a force upgrade slot kinda like the coms techs do for the imps and rebs with comms slots

The primary reason I think republic will be missing something to make up for force push or just wont get as many jedi as everyone hopes they will. Dunno what it would be, but force pushing everyone into bombs then having two units of clones shoot the crap out of them doesn't seem fun for the other guy.

Yeah, if they're included at all as personnel upgrades, I can't realistically seeing them granting more than something like, Inspire or a lightsaber melee attack, etc. Allowing corps to use Force powers would be a bit over the top.

But, seeing the game turn into a pinball machine would be kind of hilarious

unless they simply weren't allowed to have a force power that is anywhere else in your list. If obi has push, no generic jedi can have it. Or just force powers below a certain cost.

Honestly, I think they will easily have access to four jedi at some point (two commanders, two operatives) But I'm not sure there will be any "mass" jedi unit or upgrade.

Agree. I mean, the obvious, kind of guaranteed Commanders or Operatives right now would surely be: Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, and possibly Yoda. Then you get into maybe Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto and the like.

Keep in mind clones are already expensive and you would think a Jedi personnel upgrade would be around 35-45 points naked. so you wouldn't just have 6 force users in a list. Cause they would still only have 1 wound in that situation.

Here's what I've been wanting for the Republic since it was announced. A specialists style expansion with 4 jedi. They can be added to Corps as the unit leader. And they wouldn't be cheap. A rule could up their wounds to more than 1.

Examples: Kit Fisto could have force push as an ability, along with deflect. Each jedi would have specific and thematic abilities. You wouldn't want to sink allll you points into jedi leading your troops, but 1 or two elite units would be powerful. And expensive.

What are some jedi you'd want leading your Corps, and what abilities would they have?

As expensive as your Corp units are I’m not sure if Jedi as unit leaders will be feasible. I think that having Clones as an upgraded unit leader would be a better choice, and there are a ton of cool options they could do: Rex, Cody, Gree, if you fave each their own special ability when leading a unit it could make for some cool squads.

I love this idea too. If there's an expansion with Cody, Rex, Kit Fisto, and Aayla Secura as upgraded unit leaders, sign me up.

Force powers are powerful enough that any "generic" option would also be equally expensive . Look at the cost of the current force us

The difference in cost between Han and Luke is 40 points most if not all of which will be down to the addition of the force slot. Taking the saberstaff upgrade from the IRG as your base since it would add a figure with Sidearm:saber and provide immune:pierce probably with better dice (2 red or more likely red:black) I'd say that would start off the Jedi officer as 30 points , and using the heavy , rather than the personel slot, if they use the personnel slot I'd cost it higher (as it essentially gives you two heavies), add that it would increase the units courage and give them inspire , adding a further 9 points (as per the difference in cost between a normal upgrade for a storm or rebel trooper and it's corresponding officer upgrade. So I would say the cost to add a leader like this would be 40-50 add 9 add 30 for 79-89. I think though my estimation for adding the force power slot is on the low side for the simple reason that a Jedi led clone trooper unit would still be cheaper , and better than a Jedi commander hands down. So I'd say it should be costed 110 ps for this

Add 1 courage, inspire 1 , sidearm:melee RB, , Immune:pierce. Noncombatant for ranged attacks. This unit may add one force upgrade. 110 pts and uses the heavy slot.

I can see alot of named Jedi coming out as Commanders or specialist but what I would like to see is junior jedi or apprentices as specialists for all factions, but mostly Clones since the jedi were out in numbers leading that fight.

Way too cheap given that the difference between the non force using commanders and force using commanders is minimum 40 pts then the force slot alone is worth at least that. So having a generic commander @ 45 is not really feasible , try taking the rebel officer and adding in a saber type weapon at 10-15 points and 40 for the force slot to give a rebel officer with just a melee weapon at about 100-110 pts

Edit Veers cost 30 points more than a regular office and for that 30 points you get 1 more spotter, 1 additional black in melee , 3 white instead of black/white but with pierce 1 and red defence dice.

so comparing your card which is 5 less than a rebel or imperial officer, it's one w wound less but red defence dice , jump 1 , impact 1 , deflect and pierce 1 so already better than veers for 5 points less than the imperial officer and 35 less than veers and has the prized force slot, which provides arguably he best upgrades in the game.

I want to see generic Jedi as much if not more than the next guy, but they would have to be Commanders or Operatives, and not Corps or other goofy options for spamming like an officer upgrade. A generic Clone Commander/officer makes more sense in that role, and would provide the Republic with a cheaper-ish commander option for those that want to go pure-Jango in their troops bloodline.

A generic Jedi commander would also be fun in that it really opens the door to be creative. Want to have Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura, or Nejaa Halcyon as your commander but FFG hasn't released them yet? No problem, just use these cards with a custom mini. Want them to have two lightsabers? Cool, give 'em a light saber nun-chuck for all I care.

I don't think there will be a generic Jedi.. there are far too many named Jedi to worry about generic. Even apprentices you have Ahsoka and Baris.

Honestly, the best generic commander would be to make a Clone commander, similar in appearance to Cody.

What is a specialist? Do you mean Support or Operative? That's even worse. You could bring even more of them and still get the good Commanders with their command cards.

Even adding a specialist just adding the force upgrade slot to a unit is insanely powerful and worth 40 PTS without the rest of it. Allowing the entire unit to Jump 1 is also broken. It is however presented as a unit in itself rather than an upgrade like the specialist is (note the specialist commanders are both unit upgrades (19 points for inspire 1 and increasing courage by 1 for the rebels as well as providing and additional body) or as a unit 50 PTS for a 4/2 commander with inspire 1 , take cover 1 , an equipment and command slot for upgrades
