The Ultimate Wager - San Francisco vs. New York City

~I'm not sure it would be such a good idea to let the Midwest guys in on this little wager. I mean, don't they have the big advantage? We all know there is absolutely NOTHING to do in the Midwestern US. They can confirm this, but don't they usually get 40-50 drop-ins to their tournaments from people just meandering down the street, looking for a few hours to occupy their otherwise dull existence?

But honestlyif the Midwest wants to get in on this...I would be down to include them. When is your Joust Missouri? Does Ktom want to get in on this as well?

Syd

I agree with you here. Like I said in their thread - plantin's done, harvest ain't in....not much else for them to do but play cards.

And **** - I wish you guys were in LA. i have so much more LA material; to trash talk with than I do SF. I guess I'll have to rely on pointing out that you may need to resurrect a dead meta (SacTown) just to get your numbers up. Sad, really in a West Coast kind of way.

SacTown's descent on KublaCon at the eleventh hour will be like (SPOILER ALERT) Stannis' hitting Mance with his surprise attack. True Story.

...I hope someone in Sac reads this

What do I want with your banners - and your manhoods? The goats are full.

~Shoot, I don't think I have met a single person from Missouri with more than eight fingers anyway.

~nor more than eight teeth, for that matter. but when it comes to having kids, boy, eight seems like the lower end for those country folk...

~So that's their game! I knew it! They would swell their numbers with countless relations. It would take a considerable amount of time to get each one to count 7 cards correctly from the top of a deck...but at that point they would just need to teach each one to say, "Ahhh hell's bells, Ayyye Forfit!"

Hmm... such tawdry, wicked words are the mark of fearful men.

Hmmm... did i forget a ~ ?

;)

It feels like comparing full house vs... seinfeld.

Granted... being from Boston my gut reaction is to root for whoever is NOT NY. However I can afford the bus ride to NY, I dont think I could afford the plane ride to San Fran, not to mention the hotel. Especially not for the sole purpose of following my New England Instinct to spite New York. (I dont even like baseball, but due to the fact that I live in Boston I HAVE to HATE the Yankees in order to be on speaking terms with my family. I dont watch football that much, but my mom would disown me if i didn't root for San Fran, I think she had a crush on Montana.)

I mean if there were say Seattle vs. Boston it would be... cheers vs fraiser... doh!

lol.... Full House was the best you could come up with for S.F. That's almost a dig in and of itself.

I know... its like watching a gang beatup a little kid with asbergers with baseball bats and chains... I just don't wanna watch, but at the same time I feel compelled to post the video on youtube.

Haha, Death Jester, you better bring up Ram and Bruno...they are declaring war on entire West Coast

Well, AGoT aside, San Fran is really the Boston of the west coast.

LA is the comparison to NYC

and maybe Tijuana is like Washington Dc :P

Trust me, I would if I could my friend..... I would if I could.

And it's nice to see some else from your guys' meta posting on these boards LT, tell your boys to get their butts in gear.

I think SF is actually pretty relatable to NYC in many ways. They are both verticly expansive, whereas Los Angeles is a sprawl. SF is a Peninsula surrounded by neigboring communities. Manhatten is an island surrounded by neighboring burroughs. Add in the art, music, and cultural scenes and I think you can draw a lot of connections. Plus, the two best bridges in the country are hands down the Golden Gate and the Brooklyn (in that order).

Plus, there is a reason all the Beat poets got the hell out of NYC and came to the City by the Bay.

I don't like this defeatest attitude Jester. Anything is possible! You can do it!

Lets see

.............................[boston]............[san Fran].........[NYC]

Land Area:........ [48.43 sq mi]....[ 46.7 sq mi].....[304.8 sq mi]

Density:...............[12,813/sq mi] [ 17,323/sq mi] [ 26,403/sq mi]

Median Income: [$39,629]..........[$65,519]....... [ highest $188,697 poorest $9,320 (stupid wiki)]

Sterotype:.............[Drunk Irishman] [Dirty Hippie] [italian Mobster]

Hell, SF and Boston have substance abuse related sterotypes. :-P

When you package your banner to ship to us, please roll it up and place it in a poster shipping container.

No can do, San Francisco has banned poster shipping containers. Something about too many 'gerbil fatalities'.

Didn't any of the girls ever try to convince you that size doesn't matter? Chicago may be the second city, but talk to us when we you have two former world champs in your joust field.

~And no, Sithlord's imagination does not count toward championships.

That's not fair Luke...KublaCon has historically featured two World Champs ever since Rings went all the way.

o_0: Mainn and Erick have both played at NYC events. And Mainn is THE Former Champion which trumps all the other pretenders :)

From awkward conversations with a senile grandmother, a crazy mother, a few girls who were open enough to discuss the matter with me when ive asked... size does matter. Its more that each girl is individual as to what particular size range she prefers. Then again my survey sample is small, but it usually takes just one to disprove a hypothesis.

And yes... this is meant to be awkward and cricket sounding as punishment for not being original enough to think of a non-phallic reference to a cylandric object.

When is the NYC Joust Regional? I saw the posts for the Melee this past Sunday but not for Joust.

June 19th

the best day in the world....maybe.

Ugh, does that mean you're taking Lanni again, Erick? One of these days I'm going to convince you that it's actually more fun (and glorious) to play Targ, even if it means all your match ups are harder...leading you to look for ways to recoup energy in between rounds (5-hour energy drink anyone?)

In all seriousness, those 5-hour energy drinks are bad news.... Apologies to my opponents at Black Friday...the caffeine-induce jitters + long, tense games did not play well on the nerves. (Special apologies to GJ Chris, who [i think] faced me immediately after the caffeine "boost" and who received the full dose of obnoxiousness.)
