Endor Table Guidance

By theoriginalyeti, in Terrain Building

I have decided enough is enough and we need some terrain (Barricades only suffice for so long). My son has decided we are having an Endor table, so I thought I would start with some Cover One Scatter terrain log piles. Watched a great video from the Terrain Tutor (Fellow Stokie, excellent you tuber) about using cheap aquatic plants for terrain. I am very pleased with the first attempt, but need some advice on how best to seal them. Is watered down PVA best? But I don't want them to be glossy. Could I get away with a matt varnish? New time terrain builder is in need of guidance. As this is such a great community I know you will know the answer to my question. Thank you in advance.

Will add to post as I create other terrain pieces and eventually a modular table.

I, too, use plastic plants for my terrain, and while I am fine with them being glossy, I did quickly brush some brown over the trunks of my palm trees cause they were kind of a hideous brownish green color. That paint adhered ok. Maybe you could try drybrushing some acrylic paint on the leaves and such?

Also, I just lightly brush on some very watery PVA glue over everything, rocks, flock, etc. to seal it. It does the job, everything has a hard, stiff texture (flock won't rub off once the glue is dry).

Excellent I will try watered down PVA brushed on. Thanks. Any Particular ratio?

I don't measure haha I think it probably is close to 2:1 water:glue. I just pour water in until it is very thin and like milk, skim milk, not whole milk ;)

I use a thicker consistency when first adding the flock though, but the thinner ratio is fine for sealing, I find. Maybe test it on some throwaway stuff first!

I usually do glue/paint/water, add some sand. Thicker glue/paint to seal sand. Glue/water to add flock. Thin water/glue to seal.
