Has anyone else noticed the extremely high number of useless cards in drafting Spark of Hope. The tribal mechanics are great, but unlike Convergence, this set focuses on those that are not included in the Allies of Necessity draft pack. How many spot witch cards can you have? We had one of those legendary witch talisman things passed through several players because it wasn't playable. Seems like Trooper gets some love in this set, but Ewok, Witch, Droid and others don't really have enough within the Allies of Necessity pack for you to draft a card that works with them. Usually when I draft, I'm throwing out five to ten cards and then cut useful stuff from there. With this set, I was getting to only about twenty cards and then having to find others to include that were pretty darn useless.
Drafting Spark of Hope
i guess that might be the reason the shapeshifter is there
I disagree completely. We drafted the new set this past weekend and found it was one of the best and most fun drafting experiences we've had in a while. And we've been drafting since they introduced the format. Sure, there are a few cards that are clunkers in draft, just like ever set. But I feel like the designers are finally starting to find their groove on making cards that are great in constructed AND in draft. And I second the comment above, that's what the Clawdite is for.
I play in a lot of drafts and I never see the winner the one running a Clawdite. Maybe there would be a card good enough to make you want to include him, but I think he’s just too easy to kill. In my experience, the best draft lineup is three color. The eight cost yellow or nine cost red/blue seem to be the ideal pull. Though this set also has some good two red lineups with Gideon and Fenn being a great squad for draft.
Edited by gokubbis outer rim outlaw not a good character to include?
Outer Rim Outlaw is decent, but is the weakest of the three colored characters in the draft pack. For an extra point you get another health, better power action, and no pay sides on your die. But, the yellow support in the pack is great, so it’s important to fit in yellow somehow.
thanks!
ill use that tip in my next draft game!
