WFRP Concepts/Works used in DH

By Peacekeeper_b, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

As we all know, I am a rule shound, themore rules I have the better I am able to wing a game without the rules (odd I know, but trust me, thats how I work) so we all know I like to import other system rules ot help negotiate my GMing encounters, such as using the Social Interaction rules fro the WFRP Companion. Now with that being said, Ive been looking at some of the BI WFRP 2E adventures and thinking "Hey, I can see that in Dark Heresy".

So far Im speaking mainly of Realms of Sorcery's "Brutal Finish" and Barony of the Damned's "Bring me the head of Guido LeBeau" as fine example of adventures that sound more DH then WFRP. And using the "system"/"notion" of Renegade Crowns creation rules for Border Principalities to create quick and dirty planets/systems for DH.

In addition to adapting certain spells to DH Psyker powers and converting monsters/critters as well as equipment over, I also use the disease rules.

Has anyone else done this? What were the results? Does anyone have any interests in a converted PDF on such things?

I'd love to see it! I have everything printed for WFRP so far, but I really don't have the patience for conversion... the differences in the two systems are sometimes a bit subtle.

Persoannlay I think DH is more 'Warhammer' than Warhammer is DH. Just my opinion though. For me and prior to the realeas of CoC:DA WFRP was primarly our CoC in the Old World. Mentioning that there is a lott of good idead, creatures, rules, concepts, and especially ADVENTURES that can be taken from CoC, almost any of the eras can be used for DH and I've used CoC suppliments and adventures for bothe WFRP (for years in fact) as well as for ideas of DH games.

Rules wise, for me there is very little that came from v2 or DH engine that already didn't have an anaglous counterpart in my WFRP homebrew so I've mostly left them as is and have been porting my WFRP v1 HB into DH (at least in spirit.) I did however write up a suppliment for using the v2 Magic System in tandem with the v1 system for WFRP as I liked some aspects of it but not as a sole singular engine. That aside though it's mostly been the other way round.

I think you can easily especially with them being the same Universe (despite how much GW says otherwise), use WFRP (eithier version) you don't really have to worry too much for 'conversions' and the engines are near enough identical where again no worries there. Reading through a bunch of old WDs the otherday there is also a lot of potential in Judge Dredd, Paranoia, Dark Future, Rune Quest (Ducks excepting of course gui%C3%B1o.gif ) Warhammer especially 40,000 lends itself to many genres, I'll have to look (or ask Kage) but I think even Travler adventures might lend themselves to use. ...

You could totally do The Witch Hunter Cometh in DH...

And its totally Free. You could easily do most if not all of the WFRP adventures in DH, The Enemy Within wouldn't be too hard of a sell, I think Masks from CoC would port easily as well. SLA Industries , & Stormbringer are two other systems that lend themselves atmospherically to DH. Really because of the wide varience of soicities, cultures, tech lveles of varied planets ijust in the Calixis Sector let alone the Imperium you could really run almost anything.

SLA Industries would certainly fit in well with DH.

If you have the "Asylum" rpg I can imagine it making for a very interesting world in the DH universe as well. (in this version the world in question might be a penal colony for the insane, used for centuries the madd have developed their own broken societies, with a few Overseer families - the descendants of those initially stationed here now half madd themselves - making certain the food processors continue to function, etc.)

"A|State" would make for another fantastic setting easily slipped into Dark Heresy.

It's on Mad Alfred's WFRP site. In the Scenario Section .

I don't see why not. Or, indeed, why almost any adventure might not be useful. The Harlequin campaign for Shadowrun is just rife for conversion. gran_risa.gif
