Looking for feedback on spare parts canister

By Pa Weasley, in X-Wing

I like this card. I want to use this card. However, I can never quite seem to fit SP canister into a build due the mental crutch of taking other defensive options. More tried and true choices like shield upgrade or stealth device usually end up making the cut.

It seems like it would be great for discouraging pursuers while disengaging an ARC to regenerate shields. Another thought was to use cheap Deltas, X-Wings, or Y-Wings to add obstacles to muck up medium to large ships or provide more seismic fodder. All this is just ignoring the option to add a charge to an astro.

So help me oh forums. Tell me of your thoughts and experiences of spare parts canister.

It eats an action, so the only real ships I see it being good for are high initiative Delta-7s who can fine tune out of harm’s way before spending an action on it, or on Poe, who can just do all the actions.

I’ve used it with very good results in Corran, or Luke. Paired with an R2 astro it gives you 1 more charge for regen, or lets you drop debris in front of the likes of soontir, who doesn’t like it at all. Here are a few real examples...

I once had Corran drop the debris in front of a 1 hull soontir who was stressed and had to go straight (bad crit). He also had console fire, so he overlapped the little cloud and couldn’t clear the stress to flip the crit...he died due to the console fire crit...

I was going to get torp’d to death by dutch vander once, but I dropped the little debris, got rid of all the locks, got attacked by a 2 dice primary y-wing and the little debris even got my Fat Han some rerolls, as he was in the middle of a “no asteroid zone”... i think I have a pic somewhere...

I found another example (sorry about the pics... they’re screen shots from a streamed game). Han corran vs Soontir Vader whisper. Soontir was stressed so I thought he’d do a 2 hard or 2 bank left, and I dropped the cargo in front of him...

I called it right and he did a hard maneuver...

Not only did Soontir overlap and was tokenless, he also gave me an obstructed shot with Han to use my trick shot. Soontir didn’t make it to the next turn

I had it on Temmin last week and had two good opportunities to use it.

I could have dropped it on an already stressed Thane with one hull left, at best it would have killed Thane, at worst I would have kept him stressed an extra turn and facing the wrong way.

But, just like I've always done with rigged cargo chute, I forgot I had it until I dropped the focus token.
