Mk II Leia Artillery (Visualized!)

By gothound, in Star Wars: Legion

When the vets were spoiled, someone theorized that if you could get the Mk II an order in the proper space during Leia's bombardment turn, then you could do a serious alpha strike! 6 dice (2 red 4 black) Critical 2, Sharpshooter 2, and Immune Deflect. Sounds nice! The set up involves giving the vets recon intel, so they can move 1 out of the deployment zone, then deploy the MkII 1 away from the vets. The Mk II has HQ uplink so it can order itself during Leia's turn (or, you could give the vets a comm specialist with HQ uplink, and have them both get the tokens.)

Here is the setup visualized. It is very possible to get the MkII in range 3 of a target that is right up next to the starting gate. You'd just have to be patient for your opponent to deploy as such, and accept that the happless MkII will probably die. Seemed like a fun idea when it was mentioned, I wanted to see how possible it was. And it turns out, its doable!

**Edit/Cry for help** Thanks to the size restrictions, I cannot load both images, and the one that does load looks like its smeared with grease. Any advice?***

I've found the easiest way to post images is to upload them to https://imgur.com/ then copy the uploaded image's "direct link" and paste that here like so:

This forum has a limit on attached file size (.4 mb). Try compressing the file or hosting image. I'll be doing this measurments in real life and different deployments, but not sooner than on saturday 😛

You can position your MK 2 about 9 inches or a range and a half out of your deployment zone. So yes you can get within range 3 and in your first activation trigger 2 red 4 black attack. However it is possible to go one better for a single attack. Set up your Mk 2 within range 3 of your opponent. Set up Pathfinders at range 3 and then hit for 9 white , 1 red, 4 black (with pau) with critical 2 or 12 white , 5 black, impact 1 , critical 2 Ion 1(with Bistan) , for an expected 7-8 damage , of which 5 would be crits on average (17 dice would get 2 crits, 2 surges upgraded to crit and 1 hit upgraded by Impact on an "average roll"

Pau would be 6-7 dmg of which you would expect approx 2 natural crits and 2 surges upgraded to crits.

getting position with that set up would be quite easy to do. Use ambush or sabotaged communication on turn 1
