Keeping Your Local Scene Alive

Another alternative to partnering with your lgs, if they dont see the value of it (which, is just a risk-reward calculation and completely understandable)... is either start a club or a church.

Yes. I did type church. The reasoning behind either of these is two fold; money is pooled together for the good of a group, and will generally remain in place past initial members leaving. And, you get the bonus of certain, legal protections.

If you havent watched the John Oliver video on churchs, you should. We've been talking in the local area I am in of starting the "Church of the Holy Die"... tournament fees suddenly become, 'church donations' and those donations arnt taxed allowing more money to be used for the group. But if you dont want to listen to the ravings of a mad-lad doing silly legal loopholes... convince your LGS that it is in fact, good for them.

I’ll try the FLGS first, but your other suggestion is ... intriguing.

Look, im not saying it would work for everyone, and I am not recommending it as a first option... but it is an option.

The only problem with the non Retailer affiliated Club/Group is, basically - you’re going to be reliant on 3rd party prizes and illegal purchasing connections, as ONLY RETAILERS can purchase the range of kits.

I think it is a little silly (though I fully understand it) for them to not allow clubs or groups to buy these kits. If they charged retail outlets a discounted price and asked for a full, profit making price from everyone else, I think a great many groups would avail themselves. I know my group would love to be able to pick up an extra kit for each season in order to get more prizes out there or to supply stuff for a league format.
