Wave 6

By Brother Fett, in X-Wing

So it has been confirmed that wave 6 will be announced at Gen Con. In addition to card packs and epic announcments, what do you expect the next wave to be? If these factions are part of wave 6 suspect:

Rebel: Awing

Imperial: interceptor

Scum: Viper

Order: Upsilon

Resistance: Falcon

Republic: LATT

Seppies: Slave 1 (Jango's)

What do you think will arrive?

Rebel-Resistance: could be what you suggest.

Republic: Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor

Seperatist: Droid tri-fighter (interceptor type)

but there are many options, for Seperatist they may go for the Sheathipede (to get a crew transporter), or they could go for Ventress' Ginivex-class starfighter.

I agree on your predictions, with the exception of the CIS; I'd expect them to get the Tri-Fighter, or (at a 1000-1 bet) the Ginivex starfighter. The faction lacks a high speed interceptor-style frame at the moment, so either of those could fit the bill.

We may see more than one ship for the original factions, as they've still got a pile of ships to re-release. Things like the TIE Aggressor, K-Wing, Scum Y-Wing.

The Nantex fits this bill pretty hard though.

I'd expect Republic to get LAAT, seps maybe Tri Fighter, maybe something of Asajj's, Res and FO to get something from Ep9, OT3 to get reprints.

I file the Nantex in the 'Shenanigans Boat' column, something which while close to a different type of ship, is built around it's own special kind of madness and doesn't truly replace a simpler craft.

Rebel, Empire, Resistance, FO: maybe what you got, maybe the Tie Bomber instead of the interceptor. By that point, Resistance and FO might get a double release with new stuff from the new movie.

Scum: I want nothing more than an articulated StarViper, so get in it FFG.

Republic: Either the Twilight, LAAT gunship, or Nu-class Attack Shuttle . Point being a large base ship that focuses on support and carries crew.

Separatist: I want the Rogue-class starfighter with a Scum Cad Bane pilot card and dial, but I'm not sure what role it would fill that the Seps dont already have except "Super chassis that is prohibitively expensive" akin to the E-wing, Tie Defender, StarViper(with Advance sensors or Virago ) that kind of thing. 3 attack-3 agility-some combination of hull/shiled that adds up to at least 6 and a good dial. But I expect the Sheathipede, they already have a sculpts, and the faction doesn't have a dedicated support ship aside from the 32C Hyena Variant.

RIDICULOUS WISH LIST TIME!!!

Rebel: BTS-A2 Long Range Strike Fighter/bomber , AKA: the H-Wing. Just a suped up Y-Wing with a crew slot and other goodies.

Empire: Either the Tie Avenger as a kind of stop gap between the Tie Advanced X1 and the Tie defender, or a 2.0 Alpha star wing with an Imperial Missile Boat model because the Arsenal load out stole the missile boat from the missile boat and this injustice needs to be corrected.

Scum: YT-200 light freighter with pilot cards for Scum (Ace, Emkay and Antan only ever flew it on family business) and Rebel (Aeron, Galin and Tomaas flew it for the Rebellion about as much as Dash flew for them.)

Republic: LAAT with a AT-TE that can deploy on rocks

Separatist: Rogue-class with Scum Cad Bane (can you tell I'm a Scum player and want new toys). Or the Givenex, that'd be a pretty model to have.

Yeah, getting the Rogue class with a Scum Cad pilot would be aces.

I'd guess it wouldn't be dual factioned if it did come out though.

The big issue I have with it is that I can't see it fulfilling a radically different role than the Belbullab.

I just hope we'll get new content for OT faction, just one new ship for any of those faction would be refreshing. YT-2000 would be great!

A-Wing seems the obvious choice for Rebels, so agreed there.

TIE Interceptor also seem obvious for Imps, but I've been saying that for a few waves now and they keep surprising me with things like the TIE Striker and Decimator. I actually think the Imperials might heavily be affected by what the card packs turn out to be. My thought at the moment is they're just going to be a generic source for upgrade cards. But on the off chance they include new pilots as well, we might see the Interceptor plus a few new pilots like Ciena Ree. I'm wondering if they've been holding off on re-releasing the Interceptor so that they could add new pilots without annoying those who believe everything should have been in the conversion kits. The card packs would keep both sides happy, I hope.

If they're not doing that, then the Imperials' next ship may well be the TIE Bomber instead. The Bomber has a more complete roster of pilots, and the Imperials don't really have a dedicated ordnance carrier yet.

Star Viper for Scum seems very likely. It's Hyperspace legal, and they don't have a super fighter yet. G1-A is the other most likely option, IMO.

I'd probably expect to see the Starfortress Bomber for Resistance before the Falcon, tbh. Especially as they've just got a crew carrier. Resistance bomber is more of a unique niche. Though I suppose there's an argument for getting Rey out there so they have a Force user pilot. Could go either way.

Upsilon for FO seems super likely. It's their only real support ship, and while FFG could through a Resistance Transport-esque curveball out there with Vonreg's red FO TIE Interceptor, FO already have a bunch of nimble, low HP ships. Upsilon is more of a niche filler.

Also, Wave 6 might not have a Scum release. I think it's telling that Wave 4 doesn't, and Wave 5 has a double Scum release and no Resistance or First Order. It looks like one per faction is too many for your average 2e wave.

Agreed on the Republic's next ship being a support/crew/large base type ship, but I'd expect the Nu or Eta class shuttles before the LAAT. I know the LAAT is pretty iconic, but it's an iconic planetary vehicle. Yes, we see them very briefly in space in a couple of TCW episodes, but all the imagery of them is ground based. The Nu class better fits the aesthetics and mechanics of the X-Wing scale, IMO. The Eta class might get the nod because it was actually in the movies, IDK.

Seps really could go in a bunch of different directions. My money's on a TPM style Sheathipede or maybe a Maxillipede if they want to go large base. But I think the Rogue-class is a great shout to get Magnaguards on the table, with an evil, Separatist style spin on the Handmaidens from the N-1. It would be a nice bit of faction symmetry. I agree on the challenge being to make them notably different from the Belbullab. Tri-fighters could be an interesting cannon carrier, I'm thinking somewhere between the Scyk and the Nantex with an outrageous Interceptor style dial and a solid bullseye mechanic.

I think the Firespray is a real outside shout for Seps, and I expect a Jango repaint will be Scum. But Seps need a medium base, and I don't see where else it would come from. Those droid gunships aren't much bigger than an X-Wing, and they don't really go in for heavy assault fighters.

I'd like to to see the Lamdba. The Interceptor is nice and all, but with the Striker, x1 and v1 already out, hyperspace Empire has enough agile snub fighters to choose from. They need an affordable anvil, and neither the Reaper nor the Decimator are quite up to the task.

As for Rebels, the A-Wing is pretty obvious since it's both an iconic ship and fills a niche. Scum; Kihraxs, StarViper or Quadjumper? Two are dependable allrounders, one is actually canon. :P First Order will get either the FO Interceptor or the SF Interceptor. Maybe the V-Wing for Republic? As for CIS and Resistance, I have no idea.

Separatist new ships is all I care about, therefore if it's not Droid Tri-Fighter, Droid Gunship, or Sheathipede bringing in our favorite Trade Federation Neimoidians as crew, then idk what's going on. I'd definitely prefer the Tri Fighter or Gunship though.

We're probably looking at ships from Battlefront 2, so the tri-fighter/V-wing/a-wing/interceptor at a guess

No clue for FO

Card packs are the biggest thing, though, ESPECIALLY if they contain new pilots for old ships

Oh yeah if FO isn't the /sf interceptor thing from the teaser I will be absolutely stunned.

FO: The Interceptor Faction.

I’m hoping for the Xi-class light shuttle. The First Order could do with a cheap crew carrier.

I hope so. Ciena a as crew card doesn’t work for me, if they retained her ability in a TIE/in that’d be pretty awesome. Although she also flew a TIE/ln so maybe in a card pack?

CIS probably does get the Tri-Fighter because droids but I'm still hoping to see the Rogue-class starfighter with the Xanadu Blood title and Cad Bane in the cockpit.

Expectation: all reprints except for prequels, which will be Tri fighter and something large base (probably the twilight so they can keep putting Anakin into every chassis).

Desire: LAAT with the AT-TE or clones going EVA as a “remote” concept so more than the CIS have the non-ship shenanigans.

Republic: LAAT

Separatists: Tri Fighter

Rebels: A wing and E wing (CORRAN IS IN THE HST SEASON 2 PRIZE KIT YOU DENSE GHEHGOTTES [niche insult of an inside joke ;P]!)

Empire: Bomber and Interceptor

Scum: Starviper and Kimo

Resistance: something from 9 idk

FO: wishlist for either silly sf silencer thing, light shuttle, or red Interceptor thingy. We might get an Upsilon release. Probability: "Haha, lol, no new content for you again! Conversion kit was not enough?"

Everyone guesses the Tri-fighter, which would have network calculations and be cheaper than the Nantex, but imho the Gunship would give the faction much more versatility.

Yeah I'm hoping for the HMS Gunship and the LAAT.

They did sort of announce card packs for wave IV, so that would make sense. They've more or less said they won't have new cards in a ship rerelease pack, but they might if the cards are easily available elsewhere. Would love to see Ciena, Carnor and Kir (royal guard force users please!) as Interceptor pilots, and Valen back in his v1 again. While they're at it, Tycho, Nera and Wes in A, B and X!

I'd like to see the Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor for the Republic.

Am I missing something or are people still putting way too much hope into “yeah we’d probably like to do card packs for X-Wing, at some point.”?

We got Corran horn as one of the hyperspace prizes, so I expect Ewings for Rebels.

Seriously.

The direct quote was 'people who want card packs will be very happy'. Which is a strong implication, but definitely not a confirmation.
