Does this squadron have line of sight to the front hull of the Corvette? Was having some disagreement over LOS rules for squadrons attacking ships. Does a squadron need to be at least partially within the arc of the hull it’s attacking? Or is squadron LOS measured from squadron center to target hull (checking for obstruction and crossing a hull zone line?
Squadron line of sight to ship rules?
It does have LOS to the Front of the Corvette.
To your other Questions - No.
The "LOS Dot" of a Squadron is the Closest point of the Squadron base to the Target Arc. You draw from there (not from the Center post, its never directly the center post) to the LOS dot of the Target Hull Zone.
As long as you can do that without crossing the Hull Zone lines as per usual for an LOS measurement, you can fire on that zone.
The easiest thing to do is maintain in your head the "LOS dot to LOS dot" ruling as per normal... Just ignore the Arc requirement as they have a 360 arc, and their "DOT" is the closest point to the Target.
Boom.
Thanks. It seems a simple thing, but we got into a discussion on in going into the game end. Good to get a little expansion on the matter.

Don[t just take my word for it
RRG, Page 7 "Line of Sight"
• To determine line of sight, a player uses the range ruler to trace a line between the attacking squadron or hull zone and the defending squadron or hull zone.
• When tracing line of sight to or from a squadron, trace the line using the point of the squadron’s base that is closest to the opposing squadron or hull zone.
• When tracing line of sight to or from a hull zone, trace the line using the yellow targeting point printed in that hull zone.

If you want to be really precise about this you need to draw two lines. One from the centre peg to the closest point on the defending hull. Then find where that line crosses the edge of the squadron base (the plastic). Then draw a second line from that point to the yellow dot - that is your Line of Sight line.
In theory you should never use the centre peg for anything. In practice it can be helpful for finding where the Line of Sight point is.
Mind=Blown.
All these years my squadrons have been attacking whatever ship arc they've been sitting in... never checking for LOS on any other arc!
