July Fourth is celebrated in a number of countries, including Rwanda, where it marks the end of the 100 day genocide / civil war. I was in Rwanda on July 4th, 2014, twenty years after the "end" of the infamous genocide. There were fireworks to celebrate, which I was surprised by, but apparently it was because it was the 20th anniversary. Although the next day I heard that some people in the country were not prepared for the fireworks, and thought a war was starting. ☹️
