Doesn’t it? I’m being inspired after picking up Daedalus Falls for Infinity. Something with some lore to entertain, and then a mess of campaigns scenarios, maybe starting at 400-500 points, and adding more each scenario. Maybe a new named commander for each side, using proxies from the specialist pack. Maybe tie to the web somehow, so that everyone uploads their campaign scores to the web and FFG compiles the stats.
anyone think a hard bound campaign book would be a fun add?

Yup, Legion with its objective driven gameplay seems nicely fit for a campaign. I guess the Downed AT-ST is actually a scaled-down mini-campaign, sort of "testing ground". To an extent, some of the Operations have at least a semblance of a narrative (Silent Hail, Blue Metal and Deep Jungle).
That said, full scale campaign expansion would be awesome. I doubt they'll introduce new named characters (let alone with new models), even though it had happened in other SW games before (Lowhhrick in rpg, lcg and x-wing, Weiss in IA and Legion), as it might mess with their Disney licensing.

No but we could get extra gear and possibly even replacement weapons for current units

The irony for me is I really want a campaign too (that removes unique characters), and if the sales of Downed AT-ST determine if a campaign will sell.. I'm not willing to buy that expansion.
The Downed AT-ST is too expensive for the amount of play it will see. The Objectives, Deployment, and Condition cards are only used in the mini campaign, so once you play that several times, you are left with an expensive terrain piece. This is a hard pass for me, so if a test bed for sales, I suspect it will not fair well.
Back to a potential Legion campaign, I think it really needs to focus on either a new unique commander for the factions or following Armada, allow for a Custom commander. The use of the named characters just doesn't fit with me.
As much as a campaign would be cool, there is one thing I think l would fare better. A smaller scale skirmish game. Smaller groups of units, think of it as con trolling a single special forces type squad. Think Mordheim, Killteam, Infinity and Malifeaux in terms of scale (note: I have not played the latter two) While it goes perilously close to Imperial Assault, the advantage here is these “squads” can come with two nodes of play; the smaller squad individual unit and a standard Legion unit card. This would be a great place to include canon things like Scar Squadron or the Rebels Spectres/Phoenix squad. Boxed sets that offer alternative play for Legion along with standard play that caters to how these “groups” work together.
This allows for several smaller groups that don't fit with current armies to be fielded - things like the Nightsisters.
The downed AT-ST can see play in 100% of games as scenery. So I disagree that it’s too expensive for the amount of play. And in the grand scheme of the terrain market it’s not an expensive kit for what it is.
I'd love to see more campaign games or scenarios introduced. To be honest, I picked up the AT-ST Down because I thought it was a neat terrain piece, and that's it. I'm glad I did, though, because the scenarios are great. Played the first one, and it was all sorts of fun. Can't wait to play the second. I hope they release more terrain pieces/campaign scenarios in the future, perhaps a Clone Wars "Gunship Down" version.

I thought it was pricey too, until I had it in hand. It's a hefty piece and it's gonna look killer on my crait themed mats...

Agreed - I have tons of scenery but I’ll be happy to place that one out whenever I get the chance because it looks so nice. It looks sharper than my tie fighter wreck from a 3d printer.
I really do hope for a campaign or some sort of narrative play in Legion that is more than just a mini campaign (such as the sorta testing it out Operations from OP, or the mini ATST one). I’d be super stoked if it came with 3-4 generic commander minis (2/2 for rebel or empire?) that you could customize over the course of a campaign. Players couldn’t take standard commanders (maybe a rule set for operatives joining you for a mission or two?) While a great thematic campaign and the commander minis would be enough to take my money, if they want more plastic crack we could just get new heavy weapon options or other new minis for our existing toys.
I would actually like to see more themed terrain released as part of a campaign. A second Generic commander might work, or maybe a generic operative. If they decide to go that route they should release 1 for each of the 4 factions that will be in the game when it would be released which is why I think terrain would be better so people aren't buying things for factions that they don't want to buy into.
Something like correlian conflict would be nice. Maybe cards for named characters for the imperial and rebel officer minis.
I'd rather they continued focusing on releasing new units for any planned factions (Clones and Droids, as well as anything else FFG has planned but hasn't told us about yet), and new battle cards than expend design effort on a campaign system. Now if they can release said campaign box without disrupting other development, sure.
I would still like one eventually, but I'd like for all released/announced/upcoming factions to be in a similar place in regards to unit options first.

I can 3d print one for a fraction of the cost though. While the model can see play, the cards will not, and as they are the only thing with game mechanic use, they have limited value.
Look, I'm not debating that it looks nice, only that as a line of sight blocking piece of plastic, there is nowhere near enough value for my limited gamer budget.
Blocking line of sight can be accomplished by ANY large piece of terrain. The cards are limited use, unlike the priority supplies.

True, I can make a piece of LOS blocking scenery for free. But I can also write my own new missions for free.
In the end I will probably buy far too many, you’ll buy zero, and it’ll balance out.
And in the case of the terrain made by a 3d printer, the model quality would be less than the downed ATST. Nothing against printed stuff - I have some too.
Although I have seen 3d printed terrain of comparable size go for that price point over on Imperial Terrain, so I don’t think ffg’s asking price is unreasonable.
Right now, it’s not top of the list for me. But I fully plan to pick one up to host a full thematic Legion experience with my own armies pitted against each other. And I hope that ffg makes more, especially with bigger campaigns.
I've got both 3D printed terrain and I've made my own version of the AT-ST down from a Bandai kit, and the quality of FFG's offering is better than either of the other two. The price is higher, of course, but FFG really did make a great terrain piece, and the cards are just icing on the cake for non-competitive play.
