In what scene?
If they are just talking, it's just a communicator. If there is a holographic image being displayed in one or both directions, its a holo-messenger.

Holoprojector
They are a part of holo-messengers needed for the holo part obviously. But they can be used to display information without communication capabilities.

I cant find one in FFG Star wars. The closest I can find is the Holo-Messenger...And the Holomessenger from what I can tell does not have actual comlink functions...
so after looking in Age and F&D what quigon is using is a holo messenger. The pics in those books match up to what Quigon is holding and the description is better.
Edited by DaeglanOr he's found a random object and using the force to project an image...

Why make it a force power needlessly? Also jedi dont go to using the force a their first action when a 250 credit redily available tech will do just fine.

Everyone knows Qui-Gonn is a flashy show off, it's why he is an Ataru user.

Pretty sure he was being facetious.

Holo projector and holo messengers are two separate things. Think of one as a communicator with video display, and one as a digital picture frame. A straight up holoprojector is the digital picture frame. Usually smaller, cheaper, used to display an image (family portrait, picture of a loved one, schematics of a ship).
Holoprojectors are one component of a holomessenger. A holomessenger has a holoprojector built into it to provide the holographic image of the person on the other end of the communications. These tend to be a bit larger than a straight holoprojector as it provides more functions. But size is relevant to the size of the projection you want, quality of the projection you want, level of tech, etc.
What quigon is using could really be either. I'd have to go back through and see if the same device is used at some other point as a communicator...but I'm not likely to do that. Not that it really matters. Use whatever you want/need in the game.

again there is no Holoprojector in the game. So what you find on Wookieepedia is not helpful. And what the FFG books show as a holo-messenger is what Qui-gon Jinn was holding in the scene. So what I was looking for is a Holo-messenger. basically from what i can tell a holo-messenger is like a holo disply for your comlink.

Sorry man, just trying to answer your question. Not hard to create such an item as it would just be cheaper than a holocommunicator.
Just thought you might have a use for something that doesn't have communication capabilities hence why you were asking about that specific device.
well the holo messenger does not appear to actually have comlink functions. from reading its description it basically a holo recorder and display with a bluetooth radio. so when someone sends you a holo message it probably is received by your comlink and you play it with your holo-messenger. or you can record a message and pass the holo-messenger like passing a note.

If your Star Wars has bluetooth, you're doing it wrong

there are clearly wireless connections. It just is not quite like how we do things. of course they also dont appear to have things like user interfaces on comlinks...so I have no idea how they call Yoda instead of ObiWan. For example Lobot was able to interface with Cloud City wirelessly. So i think popping on to a random persons wifi access point to get on the Holonet just does not happen. But clearly their is some sort of wireless access. It also seems to be really short ranged in general.
