Synced console and homing missiles

By Redblock, in X-Wing Rules Questions

With new changes to Republic points I decided find some broken stuff and abuse it :D One idea was make a chain of torrents with consoles and homing missiles, if it works.

Rules question. If opponent chooses to take 1 damage, does the attack counts for the console ability to pass lock?

Yes this works as you still performed an attack, you just skipped a few steps in the middle.

Now I know why homing missiles was made increased in price :D

Its not as powerful as it looks, trust me.

You give opponent choice of taking 4 dice attack, or giving fully modded attacks to Arcs.

I feel like it would work better this way around, with higher Init Torrents acting in a semi-support capacity, using the Homing Missile/SynCon to get some poke damage before passing off the lock.

Trying to pass locks to lower-init Torrents with SynCon seems doomed to failure, just too expensive to be practical, probably too easy to disrupt on table, and almost surely not impactful enough to bother with even if you can pull it off.

You pass lock to Arcs, not to torrents :D

IDK if anyone's tried the Homing Missile Synched swarm yet but I suspect it has legs. The trick is to just bring as many as possible, along with a single high-init one to get the lock, then as long as you can get a single attack off, everyone is either guaranteed dealing a damage, or doing a 4 die attack with focus. You never spend the lock . It should be pretty vicious.

It would have been tough to do before simply because the high-init Torrents were too expensive meaning you had to sacrifice a torrent out of the list in order to get a high-init lock.

But, 5x Torrent with Homing and Synched, plus Odd Ball with Synched and a 3 point Elite is now exactly 200...

Seems like it could be pretty buff.

I dunno. Just kill the Torrent that had the first lock passed to it (not that hard), and the whole chain falls down.

The way Synchronize consoles works is. As long as you don't spend your Target Lock to do re-rolls you can spend it to give it to another friendly at the ranges provided

The Homing missiles? heh. They are neat, but only really best used on ability's that trigger off hitting attacks.
