Is i4 the new i5?

Not anymore! At +1 point over the Jedi Knight she is now viable. Basically think of her as a +1 initiative Knight and you’re fine.

I can tell you have excellent taste based on this alone. 😁

This exactly. Would you pay 1 point to go from I3 to I4? In this meta? Sign me up! Even without her ability it just makes the generic Jedi Knight look like the wrong choice unless you need non-limited for some reason.

I never got around to flying the Jedi 4x4 before the points change, because it just didn't seem like it would be worth it. Now, with the points reduction, you can fit in the R4s and another Sense, so I took it for a spin:

JEDI 4x4 (200)

Mace Windu - Calibrated Laser Targeting - R4 Astromech - Sense

Saesee Tiin - Calibrated Laser Targeting - R4 Astromech

Luminara Undili - Calibrated Laser Targeting - R4 Astromech

Barriss Offee - Calibrated Laser Targeting - R4 Astromech - Sense

And I gotta say... man, this list sings a lot more than I thought it would. It is remarkably reminiscent of 5 Resistance A-wings. but with different tricks up its sleeve. It outmaneuvers everything that moves before it and it blocks everything that moves after it. CLT Jedi are certainly fragile, but when you have mods and your opponent doesn't, your stats tend to go a lot farther than theirs. I've only lost one game so far, in which I made a foolish mistake that left Mace out to dry on the second round of shooting, and even then he would have survived my silliness had I not blanked out defending the final shot.

That being said, I live in abject fear of Boba/Guri.

They're still great, despite keeping their previous total cost, if only because I5 is a much more valuable commodity now. 2-ship Scum is probably going to see a lot of play this season, and probably in a few varieties (Boba/Guri/Ketsu/Fenn/Emon/Bossk/Han/Dengar, etc.). I don't think they're in as bad of a spot as some do.

My favorite I4 right now is Kullbee Sperado. 48 is a little much for I4 but with an R4 astromech he can basically turn and link a focus-boost every single turn and still hit with 3 dice. That's pretty sweet value and would quite possibly give your CLT Jedi a run for their money. Add the fact that he can take Contraband Cybernetics or Cloaking Device to just flip out on you when he ends up in a bad spot and you have a really weird X-Wing.

Also worthy of note; I haven't gotten to try it now, but I desperately want to use AS Braylen with Marksmanship, Autoblasters, and afterburners . Who needs Cassian when you have such a powerfully self-sufficient ace? Denying all defense when R1 out of arc, frequent double-mods, and being able to just go zoom twice a game when you need him to seems incredibly potent to me. APTs if you have the points for it but that's probably making him a little too heavy for an I4. Of course, I used to play a 42 point Keyan, so I tend to overload my B-Wings. Maybe add a selfless Biggs or some wingmen with PS and Protorps to take the heat off.

There's one (not really) "bad" thing about i4 in that the CiS only have one I 5 and won't be getting anything higher until the weird lil Nantex

...but CiS are weirdos anyway so no one really cares

Rebel beef stuff are probably more pertinent (yes, that nerf didn't butcher anyone like some kneejerks might lead you to believe)

But meh, i4 generally has more fun pilot abilities for me anyway

Played a local 14 player tournament over the weekend using the new points update with one I4 and two I3 ships and out of 4 games I came across 11 ships. One I6, eight I5’s, one I4 and one I3.

I5 is still alive and well in my local area.

The point changes don't go into effect until July 11. We're all referring to post-nerf.

While Bariss is certainly the weakest of the Delta fighters, after the new points adjustment I’m not convinced she’s still bad. She’s going to have to be chummy with Sidious, but there is a viable build out there for her now.

Oh right, forgot Ric Ole! existsi

Have fun seeing him on every table!

She'll also play awfully nicely with the new super-cheap CLT. Those focus mods are really crucial and bullseye is a given.

If it is, than Torp Tomax just got that much better.
