Missiles

I'm honestly just thinking 4x Scimitars with Homing and Jendon with Vader.

I once did 5x Scimitars with Proton Bombs and Homing Missiles. Won handily against 3-ship Rebels, but it was a noob player so it means nothing. Was crazy fun to play.

The bomber is among my 4 favorite ships in the SW universe. I do think Nimble Bomber is a very suitable ability though as it emphasizes the bomber's propensity to... well, bomb. It's a very good bomber. It just needs some way of getting more firepower on the cheap or the bombing isn't quite enough to make it worth bringing.

Unless they bring back the 6x Scimitar with Proton Bombs. That would be fantastic.

I did the 5x Scimitars with Homing and Protons alright, though I also put Munitions Failsafe in there. It seems like a weird thing given the card text, but it drives home the forced decision for the opponent that there's literally no good outcome. If they take their chances, they could evade, but I get to keep my charge if I fluff the roll.

I would love it if they dropped the price of missiles a bit.

A /v1 Passive Baron come in a 35 points each. If they dropped concussions or clusters to 4, still leaves 1 point for Crack shot or something.

I fly the Inquisitors a lot in 2e, and I've run multiples of them with SNR and various missiles. Tests have been pretty good but tomorrow night is the big one after the points change: 4x SNR Inquisitors with Prockets. I am excite.

Please let me know how it goes. I loved the /v1 in 1.0, trying to get it back on the table.

Honestly I can see value in Instinctive Aim on the Inquisitors. For 1 point it's fairly similar to Passive Sensors in effect. You'll likely have a focus token so the mods come out equally, the only cost is the opportunity to use the force for defense, and you get a linked reposition into the bargain. Only problem is that only leaves 4 points for a missile if you want 5 of them (I don't really believe in generic spam but breakpoints help you see value sometimes). Missiles down by even one point would let you up that to Homing missiles, and 5x of those would be fantastic.

With passive sensors, you get the TL and forcus

With instinct, you just get a focus

Thus Instinctive being 1 point and Passive being 3...

And the linked actions on the V1 make focus a far more flexible option as well.

Also edge case: you could use the focus to mod your second cluster attack if the first nats out. PS marries you to the ship you’re attacking.

One thing i'd like to see, is for homing missiles, THEM Getting an attack in a FOLLOWING round, if they missed their initial attack.. SHOWCASE their homing ability!

If your opponent decides to not let you roll dice, you keep your lock, so they kind of do.

I was flying some Inquisitors with Instinctive Aim and Concussion Missiles yesterday. Kind of was unimpressed. However, I was also flying against RAC with Vader crew, so I could only Focus (and generally lost it anyhow), and there were also Death Troopers (and Seventh Sister on the Shuttle) so I couldn't also be doing Boost or Barrel Roll with my Focus. I wouldn't call it hard-countered (games went 1-1 with essentially the same lists), but I wasn't really able to use them to peak efficiency.

The big strength of Instinctive Aim over Passive Sensors is that you'll be able to really leverage the linked actions of the v1, so I couldn't explore too deeply what the v1s could do in that game. I kind of want to give them another shot sometime, perhaps in a slightly different list. But I might just go 3x Naked v1s, or 3x FCS v1s first.

I played a few games on Fly Casual sim last night with SNR Inqs with Prockets. I quite liked them. Boost/Br -> red Focus then blue move to TL action. I liked it a lot. I did have the same issue I always do with Fly Casual, ie I rolled 50% more green die but the AI rolled waaay more evades than I did.

SNR Grand Inq would be way too expensive to recuperate his points, but generic inqs at 50 each seem quite right.

Yup. Honestly, even without the Prockets they've been doing well for me just with FCS on board, or maybe Homing on a pair to have some anti ace potential (pre points change). With a reposition and two tokens every turn, they can be surprisingly hard to pin damage on at times. I've found they're rather nice as a triplet beside Vynder.

Like many people, I'd like to see missiles that are actually functional on 3-dice primary ships, since several of them have the missile slot. That largely means offering something other than just "more damage" (because otherwise they'd be too good on 2-dice ships!).

For cruise missiles, I was thinking a fun implementation might be to make them true dumbfire: treat them as a remote which is launched out the front, does a 4-straight every turn, and explodes on the first thing it touches or moves through. Probably easy to avoid from long range, but might be annoying if it blocks the lane you planned to take...
