For those of you who don't play Scum (or only very infrequently), what Scum pilot do you least like to see placed across from you during set-up? In Hyperspace? In Extended? To put it another way: non-Scum players, what do you think is the best Scum pilot in the game?
Non-Scum players, your opinion please:
Prob Guri and then Fenn
Guri just basically can't be touched if you know what you're doing (and practically invincible when moving after the opponent).
Fenn isn't nearly the arcdodging monster that Guri is, but he's a high I nightmare of spikey dice rolls that can easily swing the game independent of whatever effort either player exerts
As a proper Scum player, I am going to ignore your rules and post anyway.
Speaking for my most frequent opponents in the local play group, Guri. They hate it when she's there because WTF even is that barrel roll- BEFORE YOU MOVE!
People groan most when I field mist hunter 4-LOM or Guri both with Advanced sensors.
Palob or Torkil. With the title it’s very easy to keep you in arc and then you’re either losing your green token or at Initiative 0 which can be devastating. I recently flew against someone flying Torkil with IG crew and 2 IG Pilots. Having the two IG’s initiative kill my Poe was not pretty! Though seeing a Hwk with 2 focus, a calaculate and an evade was pretty hilarious!!

Torkil is the great equalizer
the aces must learn how it feels
Apart from Palob, nothing feels unfair or overpowered at the moment. But when Guri starts doing her bendy rolls, I can't help but be overcome with jealousy.

I think he's just an *******.
He keeps zeroing my I1 & I2 ships?
The scum pilot that most annoys me to go up against is probably Boba Fett. It feels like a waste of time to shoot at him unless I have 3 or more modified 3 dice attacks.
Fenn is scary and swingy. If you can get shots on him he will die though.
The HWKs and G1A are quickly focused down.
Stoopid Boba though. He parks his ship right in your face and dares you to shoot him. 🤬
Quadjumpers
Ketsu Onyo. She's such a bully. Tractor folks onto rocks and tear them up, ideally with other Init 5 squadmates.
For the rest of the best stuff Scum has to offer, I think it's a fun challenge. I kinda like squaring off against Fenn Rau. Catch him at the right range, and he can be toast very easily. Against Drea, it's about trying to outmaneuver some generics. Pre-adjustment the whole Drea/Loks squad was a bit too much, but there's something almost wholesome in trying to out-fly jousters.
Edited by theBitterFigProbably one of the Falcons, purely because it will take just that much longer to table them.
Palob, I play defenders a lot and he just bullies their biggest advantage out of the game.

Wedge Antilles wrecks Boba. So do Torpedoes at long range. Double modified 4 dice attacks at range 1 also work, even though he'll probably block 2 hits each time.
Guri gets my vote.
A lot of people mention Guri, yet Guri isn´t winning so much is she? Guri easily goes up to 80 pts with Advanced Sensors and Outmaneuver, so the rest of the list will suffer because she struggles to return those 80 pts in offensive output and staying power. Sure, Guri is tough if moving last, but she is only I5 and so expensive that any extra points spent on bid against other I5s hurt extra bad. I guess the fear factor is there because Guri did get nerfed up 1 point in cost, but I think FFG left Scum in the garbage for another patch...
Palob is the one I hear the most complaints about, and has been described endlessly as an NPE. Guri not so much at my LGS. She’s a beast, sure... And one of the top Scum aces, but she’s hyper expensive and arguably on par with other powerhouses. The good players in my area tend to either pin her down so any potential move is covered by firing arcs, or they go for the I-6 ace counter.
Fenn. He’s just such a ****.

A fully kitted Guri plus bid is well over 100pts. Read PhilGC's blog to see how a very skilled player can leverage both those facts (High skill ceiling and high cost) into consistent tournament wins.
He's currently selling off lots of his winnings (like 10 sets of dice?) to help fund his attempt on the world title.
Poor playing will see Guri dead on short order; a good player will rarely get her shot at all, even vs Init6.

This is what really makes me want to try AS Dalan. Not only is he 10 pts cheaper than Guri, his positional flexibility is through the roof. True he doesn’t get the passive mod, and yes most true aces move after him at I4, but he fits along with Fenn and Teroch, leaving 12 points for talents and bid!
He’s a godlike ace vs I1-4, and he can even pull stuff that I6s can’t catch.

Guri, but only because a couple local players are really good with her. Otherwise....nothing?

But to pull those insanely unpredictable shenanigans, you frequently are giving up her shooting, or not benefitting from dice mods. Guri absolutely is the nightmare-mode for unpredictable when outfitted with Advanced Sensors (which really should just be stapled to her). However Scum are short on Coordinate options (barring Squad Leader), and the best way I’ve found to ensure *some* mods with her is to have IG-88 around to toss her a Calculate when you have to reposition the **** out of her.
Guri, Fenn and Boba.
Generally ships that are extremely resilient to paper cuts, be it by arcdodging or endless rerolls.
Fenn Rau
He is an arc dodger that doesnt need to arc dodge. If he gets caught range 1 in arc and cant roll out of enemies arc "Eh, so what!" 5 red and 4 green with auto evade. You need dice on your side or somehow catch him at range 2. Fenn Rau with a bid scares me every time.

The only time I've flown a Starviper in 2nd ed so far (I'm working my way through every ship), I chose Dalan.
He was good, and I used AS plus all the upgrades. But to use his ability makes him stressed for the following turn. Vs ships moving before him, he's awesome; vs higher Init, you can get caught out.
But his biggest weakness is that he gets no dice mods if he uses a reposition action, whereas Guri can have both if you place her correctly. Even if you switched their initiatives over, Guri would be better.
