Good evening to all!As a new member of the site and a new player of the game,I have a straightforward question about the rules. If a unit with Toughness is dealt non-combat damage can those damage be prevented by Toughness?Thank you very much! The game is really awesome but here in Greece there are no tournaments or eventsllorando.gif

Hi and welcome!

The first thing to unerstand is that we have a very precise wording (you'll understand way I point that out).

Toughness CANCELS (not prevent) damage before it's applied EQUAL to its value.

The word CANCEL is pretty important 'cause Toughness triggers while the damage is not "uncacnellable", Some card effects doesn't allow cancellation effects, thus, thoughness doesn't work neither.

Anyway, it triggers at any given time the Unit takes damage.

Also, remember that COMBAT DAMAGE is first ASSIGNED then APPLIED by a separate step (check out the detailed turn sequence in the FAQ): so, it triggers AT THE SAME MOMENT it should HIT (be APPLIED) to the Unit.

Non-Combat damage is APPLIED as soon it's ASSIGNED, with no possibility to take actions in between...So, it triggers as soon you assign damage (assign/aplly are quite the same thing with Non-Combat damage).

Thank you very much for your quick and precise answer! You helped me a lot!

You're welcome! :)
