has anyone had a stupid incidence? one day, me and my friends were playing this game against Azathoth. Our butts were getting kicked real badly, cause the gates kept opening away from our elder signs, and teh Green Flame herald already tugged off one. one of my friends got real upset and started to whine that we were doomed. she went to the curiousitte shoppe and ta da!!! lovely sheet of music. My friend grinned and made the lore check. I screamed 'noooo' but my other friends agreed to start a new game. well, he passed the lore check, azathoth awakened, and the Earth was sucked into his mouth. i dunno if that was a wize choice, cause maybe i just wanted to prolong our impending doom...

yes, when i come to think of it, it was a memoirable moment. though i still believe we COULD have won. my friends still disagree, and say that im just foolish while we started another game against an easier opponent: Hastur.

Closest thing to this I've experienced to this was also against Azathoth. He was at 13 doom I had just exited the Dreamlands with a wad of clues loaded for bear and ready to seal for the win. The person who had their encounter before it was my turn? Gate and a monster appear.

Hate to tell you this but Azathoth is the easiest AO. The only cool story involving Azathoth I have is when we won using the Walking the Leylines mission from Dunwich. He was one doom token away from waking up when we finished the mission.

I have lost twice, once againts Azathoth, and one against Shub-Niggurath when I first got the game. that is why I honor Shub-Niggurath in that sense. Though she can be easy when you know how to kill her, I like that theplot cards make her harder and that all the monsters toughness are increased.

speaking of which, I recently played a game with Shub (she's very fun to play with), andI had some hard times when a Star Spawn, Star Vampire, and Dhole came out. It was very scary to roam around Arkham, except the good thing was I was Wendy Adams while my other friends were cowering in their shoes!
