As far as I know burn is blocked by soak, but what if the weapon has pierce or breach on it? Would that affect the burn damage?
My guess is probably not, but I’m wondering if it would work that way.

It doesn't.
Burn dmg really reduced by soak? Then why would I ever spend my advantages to trigger a burn 2-3 quality? Basicly anyone has at least 2-3 soaks if not more. It doesn't seem reasonable.

Burn does base weapon damage for the number of rounds specified by Burn.

******* what
Oh jeez that's sooo much better than I thought it was
I need to find me some burn weapons
It's not specific in the EotE book:
but they made the Genesys text more specific:
Note how they specify hits from weapons . Burn just deals base damage on subsequent rounds, it doesn't deal another hit. And, therefore, neither Breach no Pierce apply.

True. But Soak does not apply to burn as far as i know.

Yes, it does.
Soak applies to any damage regardless of source.

Yep. Basic rule of thumb is that soak applies unless an effect specifies that it is ignored.

Check the developers questions. Specifically stated soak applies to Burn. However, it was asked but never answered about Burn and Pierce/Breach.
On one side, burn would be pretty useless against someone in armor and a decent Brawn unless coming from a strong weapon.
On the other, a high power weapon with Burn and Breach could be devastating.
To follow a train of thought Blast is still affected by soak, Blast is also affected by Pierce/Breach. One can be both affected by soak and still allow Pierce/Breach.
Easiest I can say, "you must do what you feel is right, of course."
Yeah, at my table we applied the same train of thought as Blast toward Burn. Passive qualities affect ongoing burn, Active qualities would not.
But again, just our interpretation since it was never addressed.

Ours too. However, just to hopefully clear this up (at least till it comes up again anyway) I'm awaiting a developer answer.
We've been playing it this way for years happily, but it would be nice to finally have a (semi-) official answer one way or the other.
