Clone Wars: Dantooine Board Start to Finish

By Wirymuffin, in Terrain Building

Thought I would start a terrain board due to the Clone Wars coming soon.

I got inspiration from the now legends, Star Wars:Republic comics.

This was the original plan of a small homestead like area with a trench in the top left, cantina in the bottom right, and a house with some moisture vaporators near it.
The board is 2x3 and when I'm done with this part I can just add another 2x3 to make a good table size. Btw, not sure what I should put in the top right. Probably a wreck or maybe some wind turbines based off the ones you would see on Dantooine.

Here's the first stage. You can see all of my drafting in sharpie, even though I ended up just going back to the Og plans.

So I did the basing with small grain sand and put some Vallejo basing clay in the cracks in the start of the trench. First I painted some brown and light browns and then decided to paint/drybrush some areas with black. Then just touched up with some brown and tan.

Did some dark tone wash too on some lighter areas and pooled it in the craters for some more depth.

As for the buildings, I painted the cantina black and the house grey, then dry brushed with silver.

I put some plasticard boards down in the trench but will probably do it again but with some plastics or something. Also want to put plasticard or thin mdf around the whole thing but thats last.

Still have to touch up the board a little and do the details on the buildings.

Thinking of doing three things:

1. Put barbed wire around the outside of the trench

2. Make a landing pad or supply depot in the the black area on the bottom left of the top picture

3. Create some blast shields to spread around (like the ones you see in Star Wars battlefront 2 maps)

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions!

More to come...
