Cassian Pilot Ability

By RoyalPayne, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ok, so Cassian’s ability reads:

“At the start of the Activation Phase, you may choose a friendly ship at range 1-3. If you do, that ship removes 1 stress token.”

On Rules Reference pg 11 says:

“A ship is friendly to itself and can affect itself with any of its abilities that affect friendly ships, unless those abilities explicitly refer to “other” friendly ships.”

No where does it say range 0 is yourself or that ship.

So what Cassian’s ability says that you cannot remove a stress from a friendly ship if it is bumping or in contact with Cassian (Range 0).

This is a question that popped up and mostly saw answers to he CANNOT remove his own stress... but trying to be a rules lawyer, or thinking I am lol, I think it would be the opposite and that you CAN indeed remove his own stress.

Thoughts please!!!

If so, my Cassian with Juke, Advance Sensors, Jyn crew, Perceptive Co-Pilot, and Pivot Wing is in full effect.

You are not a friendly ship at range 1-3 of yourself you are a friendly ship at range 0 of yourself.

thespaceinvader is precisely right. Cassian is not at range 1-3 of himself, so he cannot target himself with his ability.

Aw man.

That is disappointing lol.

I must have missed something.

thanks for clarification guys!

Rulebook, Fundamental Concepts, Measuring Range, Page 4:

“Two objects (ships, obstacles, devices) that are touching are at range 0 or each other. Likewise, an object is at range 0 of itself.”
