Illogical Class Restrictions

By thinkbomb, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So this is a casual topic, though the question prompt is a bit esoteric. Please read in full before replying ...

  • Are there heroes who can't pick the class that ideally suits them because it belongs to the wrong archetype?

(This question's obviously ignoring the freedom of hybrid classes provided by the card expansion.)

Here's one example. Jonas the Kind is listed in his lore as being a reformed thief with a heart of gold ... yet because he's a healer archetype he can't select the Thief class naturally (despite the fact that he totally would have those skills).

So what do you think? Have you noticed other heroes that haven't been able to select classes that they otherwise probably should be able to select?

I've noticed it, but now that we have every possible multi-class combination available through the expansion packs, it doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. (I know you said ignoring the multi-classes, but why would you ignore them?)

These are just thematic.

Have you never choose a path you don't want to do anymore now ? See it that way, then.

And since it's a game, those are just examples. Brother Gherrin is, for sure, some sort of ancient warlock or something like that, and he doesn't play Overlord cards anymore. Same for Shiver, who was a shade before, he is no longer a puppet of the Overlord, and shouldn't he then be slave of thoses cards ?

All of these are nonsense.
