This is something we’re going to try out at the FLGS this Thursday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

This sounds absolutely bonkers, I love it.
Definitely let us know how it all plays out.
I guess I'm a little sad you haven't called it 'Golden Laser Cannon' or 'Golden Torpedo', but I suppose familiarity is better. Also, are you going to enforce the rules around modifications? As in, if you take a Fang Fighter are you just **** out of luck if you overlap the token?
And what if someone has already filled their mod slot?

No we’re not going to enforce that. The mod icon is simply because the online card generator I was using required me to put some sort of icon there- otherwise I would have left it blank.
I didn’t make it a cannon/torpedo/missile because I didn’t want specific pilots/ships to be able to abuse it. For example: the Gunboat configurations.
This was a blast to play last night! It changed up the basic furball strategies so people were all rushing to the middle. Whoever had the golden gun became target priority #1, but the ability to completely wipe someone off the map was such a draw to pick up the gun. I'll let Herowannabe give a more conclusive write-up since it was his event, but it was a huge hit and everyone wanted to play it again. Most even said they preferred this to the normal furball.
This sounds awesome!
What kind of limits do you put on ships during the furball?
Edited by nurglezI've been looking to try this "Furball" variation with some friends but haven't manage to find any comprehensive rules for it (e.g. points per ship, etc.). Anyone care to help? 😀

I can see that as a normal furball usually devolves into kill the guy who's most hurt. This at least gives everyone an "objective" of sorts. Either get the Golden Gun or try not to get hit be the guy with the Golden gun.
