Currently running a D&D campaign in Terrinoth

By IamGazrok, in Realms of Terrinoth

Hello all. Finally started my D&D campaign (3.5) in the Terrinoth setting.

Long time players of Runebound and Descent, we looked forward to doing a D&D campaign in the setting. As luck would have it, the Realms of Terrinoth book came out shortly before we were to start, so I used it and info from the other games to flesh out my campaign world. Anyhoo, the campaign site has the info really broken down, mapped out, etc. using information from all of these sources, including a pretty full bestiary folder and magic items folder. Posting it here for any other DMs of any genre using the setting to feel free to borrow from. Feel free to give it a look.

I've done some breakouts of just Terrinoth magic and beasts, and separated it from our homebrew and D&D additions. So those folders just have canon things (though D&D rules for it).

I've added a political map showing the borders of the different Baronies, as well as separated out the Baronies in a folder, and the Free Cities in a folder, for easier reference, and also a folder just with the Barons.

I'm constantly adding on to it, as we go in the campaign. But since it is a pretty comprehensive collection of Terrinoth information, I wanted to share with all who also love the gameworld, in full hope that folks will find it useful.

Thanks! I have been running a 5E campaign in Terrinoth for a year now; will really love to see your interpretation of the setting.

Here’s some helpful, more direct links: I added things from the Runebound game and the Descent game, and expansions, etc. to be a bit more complete than just the Realms of Terrinoth sourcebook….

World (Mennara): (click on map for map). Can then click on pins for individual entries) https://www.scabard.com/pbs/campaign/235523/place/237137

Baronies of Terrinoth: (same as above instructions for map, but a LOT more location). https://www.scabard.com/pbs/campaign/235523/place/236967

Terrinoth Monsters: (I’ll add stats as I use them) https://www.scabard.com/pbs/campaign/235523/folder/243414

Terrinoth Magic Items: (I’ll add stats as I use them) https://www.scabard.com/pbs/campaign/235523/folder/244420

For all kinds of interesting info, here’s our PC Reference folder (not world specific, but some cool things we’ve done over the years for campaign flavor, etc.) https://www.scabard.com/pbs/campaign/235523/folder/236422

One note is that there are images here for most NPC's that are mentioned in the book, where I really tried to go with the descriptions and general "feel" of the personality, in picking a pic for them, so this may be helpful. (as well as city maps, etc, borrowed from other sources).

FYI, I added "Kara-Tur" to the world map, as I really like the setting, and there was no current Asian-themed setting in Mennara (and the campaign needs it).

I like the idea of running a 5e campaign in Terrinoth. Thanks for sharing your campaign and work. Definitely will be borrowing from your work for my next D&D campaign. However, I am new to Genesys RPG and working on converting D&D 5e campaigns to the Genesys system. Have you done any of that type of work?

@redskelton76 I have been running a Terrinoth RPG in Genesys for about 2 years now, and frequently take sections from DnD 5e campaigns (players are currently in a modified Greenest from Lair of the Dragon Queen).

Converting campaigns is easy enough to do that it can be done on the fly. Encounter balance is less of a big deal in Genesys, and you will quickly get a feel for how heavy an encounter your players can take. However the combat can move significantly faster and be more deadly in Genesys, so always have a "based on this scene, what would a player KO look like? Capture? Death? Or simply sulking away?"

The more difficult part is getting the Genesys rules to be a little crunchier (this may depend on group style, some like more narrative and free form creativity, others like things more gamey). Attatched is a set of house rules my group uses to handle movement, spells, stealth and healing in Genesys that helps handle things like dungeon crawls and miniature combat.

Yeah, it's a beautiful map, though sadly not as accurate since the sourcebook came out.
