Greetings everyone!
I'm Derek (aka Karneck), most of you know me as the guy who posts the youtube videos talking about explaining stuff Star Wars Armada related.

With the departure of our beloved (and all around great guy) @i2xCross from the judges chair, I was recently approached by FFG and asked if I would be willing to judge the North American Championship at GenCon this year.
I am (and still) totally blown away by this opportunity and I have accepted.

I am extremely excited to be attending my first GenCon in August and I look forward to meeting more people from this wonderful community! I had a blast meeting so many people at Worlds.

I know we're eagerly awaiting the release of the new announced expansions and looking forward to more information on the upcoming product. I can't answer any questions about that but if you DO have any questions regarding Star Wars Armada, and on how I would make any rulings, if the new expansions were to be released by GenCon.

Please feel free to ask here, or if you have any questions really, I'll do the best I can to provide the most accurate information I can.

Will you be receiving a promotion and new uniform to match this greater responsibility?

But will you be standing on any tables?

I don't know about new uniforms, but I will be wearing my directer Krennic outfit, someone has to keep the rebel scum and Imperial traitors in line.

As for table standing, I'm positive it'll happen, and I'm sure there will be jokes made when I do.

Invitational Only Rules are for Worlds.

GenCon is the North American Championships Equivelant (Continental Championships?)

So you can attend GenCon, and maybe even get a Worlds' Invite out of it.

Thanks for the clarification Dras! I ain't going to either, was just curious. Kinda semiretired, as locally Armada is deader than that Krayt Dragon at the beggining of A New Hope.

But wait, why is Ian leaving the Judge's chair? The guy is an absolute saint and a joy to be around, and he really made events like Gencon and Worlds so much better. Sorry to hear he's stepping away, is it just for this Gencon or is he stepping away from Armada permanently? Wishing him the best.

He’s moving to working for FFG, as a community liaison/event organizer of sorts I believe.

But being employed by FFG directly means he’s too busy to judge at events now.

Ian is now in Event Manager for Asmodee, and is therefore...I'm going to go with Overqualified, to be an official TO.

He's in Minnesota. Based on my understanding of the historical records* I presume they're more ice skates than shoes, really.

Hey everybody! I know we're all SUPER excited about the SSD coming out, and that some folks have already gotten their hands on a few.

Since I've been messaged a few times asking me about it,

I want to remind everyone that as stated by FFG, the product release date IS Augest 2nd.

The SSD expansion (ship, cards, etc) will NOT be legal for official tournament play. So please do not submit a fleet list including those items.

ISB will be forced to confiscate and "redistribute" misused Imperial assets.

Can't wait to see you all there! I'll be holding community meet and greets Thursday and Friday an hour before play begins, for players wishing to socialize or catch me for last minute questions.

Boooooo, that means Gencon is playing with a stale meta that wil be nearly 540 days old ... 😟, basically unchanged from the last Gencon and just a few months removed from Gencon 2017.
