gas clouds, good? bad? or indifferent?

I think they missed an opportunity that going through a gas cloud should give a strain token.

You lose an action for going through a gas cloud, with the large amount of coordinatiors, Ahsoka ability types, this downside seems rather negligible.

Exactly!

Well, they can errata the rule book to make it give a strain too. I think its a great idea.

I really like them. I view them as an aggressive option for swarm players that allow them to disrupt any potentially menacing placement of rocks in the center of the board. IMHO they are powerful in this role without being oppressive, and just that extra little edge that swarms feel like they ought to have given their relatively high piloting demands vs their power level.

I like them. At first I thought I would always take them, because they seem to help you more than they hurt you. But they do the same effect to both squads, so what they really assist are less maneuverable lists, because or lists than like to fly in formation. If you have great pilots with great dials and reposition, it is actually in your best interest not to bring them because while they don't hurt you much, asteroids or debris cloud will likely hurt your opponent more than they hurt you.

What I really like about them is how it makes what obstacles you bring to a tournament more a part of your list than it was before.

I also sort of feel like FFg included them to help swarm lists (now their are two factions that fly them) more viable in a competitive setting.

But some (potential) swarm ship much rather would have other obstacles (vultures and hyenas with struts rather would have rocks or debris, Mining Guild Ties certainly want rocks.

And especially swarm ship with 2 attack dice should think twice about gas clouds, because trying to punch with 2 dice through a cloud at a target is even more "wet noodle" style power.

My 4 Arcs really enjoyed the gas clouds in a match against vultutes +1 support and won rather easily.
