Vader * Soontir * Duchess

By A-N-T-N-Y, in X-Wing Squad Lists

This is my barebones Hyperspace list and would like your suggestions:

Vader - Afterburners

Soontir Fel- Predator

Duchess - Elusive

I toyed with the idea of beefing up Soontir with a Hull and Shield Upgrade. Add a Hull upgrade on Duchess as well, along with Proximity Mines and Skilled Bombardier.

That's would bring me to199.

Any thoughts?

True. I use crackshot most of the time.

Also this list really wants to bid deep.

This is how I am playing it:

Darth Vader (65)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)

Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)
Shield Upgrade (8)

“Duchess” (42)
Crack Shot (1)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Total: 184

You can also bring Countdown. He’s awesome...

Would Heighten Senses be worth putting on Vader if you didn't bid as deep?

Are bombs worth using on Strikers in general?

I put Prox Mines on Duchess and loved it. If you don't mind about the bid you can put a hull upgrade on soontir.

I dont like sense if you're not running vader with a swarm.

And btw: Its "Duchess"

Darth Vader (65)
Hate (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)

Ship total: 76

Soontir Fel (52)
Outmaneuver (6)
Shield Upgrade (8)

Ship total: 66

"Duchess" (42)
Crack Shot (1)
Seismic Charges (3)

Ship total: 46

Total: 188

I play this version. Hate is more of a failsafe when playing game 4,5,6 in a tournament and the brain is getting tired ;) so can remove for deeper bid.

Proxies on duchess all day. Its money in the bank. She can cut off flanking routes, divert swarms, and do easy damage versus lower PS by just aileron and fly over

Dale Cromwell and Matthias Konrad made Top16 in Bologna SoS with Vader, Soontir, Duchess, with slight different loudouts. Their exact list should be in Listfortress by now. I think it’s a very strong squad.

I'll take look at ListFotress. Thanks!

Collision detector on Vader.

Imho, the minimum for these three should be FCS and AB on Vader, and Predator on the other 2. That leaves 29 points. It could be a TIE fighter. Or, and this would be my choice, it could be Afterburners on both Soontir and Duchess and Proxies on Duch

I really like hate on Vader. Is sooo thematic: if he gets shot aka it hurts he gets ANGRY!

plus you can play really aggressive with him! I like 'shopping' with Vader: take ALL the actions, spend all the force. I know it’s coming back.

On Soontir: stealth device and predator. That extra dice is so helpful when he blanks out with his three regular ones. (SD dice is not prone to blanking out, y'know!)

And I second ProxyMines on Duchess. So much fun (and deadly, too)!

But, alas, if you want to go big competitive: the deepest bid wins! Plain simple.

So practice, find what upgrades you like - and get rid of any not crucial stuff!

With the Decimator coming into rotation now, along with all of its "new" cards... what do you folks think about putting BT-1 on Duchess? For the comparatively low cost of 2 points, it grants her a free Marksmanship-like ability against anyone who holds onto stress. While the new points will probably reduce the number of Rebel Beef iterations (specifically, the Init-4 B-Wings), other stress-loving concepts could start seeing play. The new Resistance gimmicks seem to be built around carrying stress, top aces still often reply on linked actions to stay in the fight, and outside of possibly General Grievous, pushing critical damage through is pretty much always better than hits.

Or is that just more fat to be trimmed, to keep the squad as LEAN as possible?
