electro proton bomb.

I ran on to a copy of the electro proton bomb for wave 4 what are your thoughts on it.

Electro-Proton Bomb

Types: Device, Bomb

At the end of the Activation Phase, this device detonates.

When this device detonates, each ship and remote at range 0–2 rolls 4

attack dice. Each ship loses 1 shield for each blank result, gains

1 ion token for each focus /hit result, and gains 1 disarm token for each crit

result. Each remote loses 1 shield for each blank result and suffers

1 damage for each focus /hit result.

You've missed that it always has 1 fuse token (so doesn't detonate till the end of the next round's activation phase) when dropped or launched, takes up a Device and a Mod slot, and cannot be reloaded...

Yes saw that on upgrade card.

I don't think it will see much play outside of a Scum Nym+Y-wing list.

These two quotes sum it up fairly well.

IF the ship can equip it and it doesn't cost a bomb (Pun intended) then WOW its a good bomb, the fuse token is very bad but great players will be able to use it as area denial like a giant rock for a turn. Anything over 6/7 points and i can't see it being chosen over protons/Seismics or mines, at least for competitive games.

I can see it on punishers, too. But Nym... that will be hilarious. And by hilarious I mean sad.

I really dislike the rng here

So, at first glance , it seems like you always get something out of any roll. But consider the following:

1.) Ships with no shields

2.) Medium/large ships getting less than 2/3 ion tokens

3.) Just how ridiculously game-swinging a weapons disabled crit can be

On Nym not happening, along side Nym is a possibility though.

1) Its a fair point but you only get one and it should be used asap so the opponent most likely has shield.

2) This is a good point and probably means you wouldn't throw this bomb in but rather build a list around eg. other ion abilities (that scum hwk could be nice)

3) 100% AGREE how game altering this is! but my guess is thats what FFG was aiming for, to make sure people dont go "sack it" and take the damage/ions to get a R1 shot for a better trade.

So what ships can equip this little monstrosity?

Right. The Y takes the bomb. Nym holds it in place.
