A number of new topics have been added to the FAQ , including errata for The Gathering Storm. I've also included a number of the most common questions submitted via the FFG Rules Questions page.

Reviewing the FAQ again I see that I have been playing some spell cards wrong. I assumed that the default simple (0d) difficulty applied to all spells and blessings, but no... Those at are 'vs Defence' use the standard Easy (1d) default.

Therefore spells like 'Fires of U'Zhul' and 'Bolt of Asqhy' are cast at (at least) 2d - often at 3d if the caster channels the same round. Plus the misfortune for Defence and any cover the GM rules the target has. I guess these spell effects can be blocked and dodged too. So we might see 4 or even 5d spellcasting tests. Wow - I see I've been letting the BW PC live in a fool's paradise.

vs. Target Defence

not an opposed check, default difficulty: easy (1d), add action card modifiers

example: Great Fires of U'zhul , +(1d) for vs. Target Defence, +(1d) for card modifier, +( x misfortune) x = to the defence rating of the target

vs. Target Characteristic

is an opposed check, follow opposed check rules, add action card modifier

example: Curse , Spellcraft vs. Target Discipline, +( x d) x = opposed check difficulty rating, +(2 misfortune) from card

regular skill check

default difficulty: simple (0d), add action card modifiers

example: Flameblast , Spellcraft, (0d) Spellcraft check, +(1d) from action card, + (1d) only if engaged with an enemy (card special rule)

none required

example: Burning Blood

and +(1d) for quickcasting anything that requires a check.

i am glad you posted. i haven't had to gm a spellcaster yet, and i hadn't really paid much attention to this part of the faq.

I'm glad to hear it, that the errata is umdated.

Now I'm looking forward for my GAthering Storm - still haven't got it> my FLGS has not yet receaved it - I only hope that this week I will see it.

And I'm waiting for some new suprises from FFG> I hope that soon after the event Mallueus malleficarium we will see a great new preview of The Winds Of Magic and a announcmet about the new supplement that going to be showed at this event.
