Flying with Emon in Hyperspace

I used to love flying Emon in 1.0. I think he may still be decent in 2.0 but haven't found a hyperspace list that I really like. I'm considering trying this:

The vague idea is to coordinate a reinforce to Emon ahead of a blue move. Against high initiative lists he can potentially spend the reinforce for rerolls and either way it should help keep him alive long enough to do some bombing.

I've picked Krassis as a wing mate just on the basis of trying something different. The bulls-eye requirement on the HLC is a pain but hopefully it will trigger a couple of times in a game. I'm not keen on missile options.

Fenn + a bid would be an alternative.

Or ... If I took everything else away from Emon except Prox Mines (my favorite Emon upgrade), I could fit L3 and two Black Sun Enforcers.

Anyone out there flying hyperspace-legal Emon lists?

I'd consider any of these as slight improvements over Krassis + Elusive + HLC:

  • Koshka Frost + Elusive
  • Koshka Frost + HLC
  • Krassis + Elusive + Tractor Beam

Koshka has the same Initiative as Krassis and can also take an EPT, plus a free reroll every time she shoots or gets shot by a stressed enemy will apply more often than a free reroll on a range 2-3 bullseye.

Thanks, this is well reasoned. It's going to be a bit situational though. Some lists never take stress and have large / medium bases where HLC triggers all the time. Some take stress as a matter of routine, are small and mobile, and will never present an HLC shot.

Tractor cannon on Krassis is amazing. He can shoot it forward or back arc unlike the HLC. I have had it help plenty of times to move ships on to or in the path of Proximity mines. Occasionally a ship will get to close to a table edge and you can boost them in to a position where they can’t stay on the table next turn.

Drop Elusive and HLC for Tractor Cannon and Proton bombs to bring a bit more control to the list.

The Firespray is my favourite ship so I am Looking forward to what you come up with.

I'd really consider dropping the HLC - you're almost never going to leverage Krassis' ability effectively, and it's oh-so-leverageable. He offers so much more flexibility when he's carrying ordnance. Imagine ProTorps out the front OR back - he can do it. Cluster missiles when you're getting chased by a swarm - he can do it. Also, the HLC is not necessarily a front-arc attack; it's a bullseye arc attack, which although it's in the front arc, doesn't count in the same way.
